View Full Version : Usertitle Forbidden Words/Phrases?

Just what the fuck is up with that?

Do we have a list of words we cannot use for our titles?
Just now I tried to change my title to ~Sparkling Angel~ but it told me I had an illegal word or phrase. I went back and took off the '~' but it still said the same thing.
What part of spark or angel cannot be used?

This happened another time when I tried to change it to (if I remember) something like 'Love Three Sharon's and again it didn't work for the same reasons....

So...if there is a list of the words that cannot be used, can we have them?

If I had to guess its the ~ and the ' that is not allowed. The letters are fine, but the symbols aren't.

when I joined, Angel was a no no to use in a nick or anything. so that may be the issue.

Luckily I joined before Angel was banned, but obviously that's not an issue anymore Karen because you have it now. (I remember you tatersmomma)

Why was Angel banned? For usernames I can see the point in that, but usertitles?

There was a time, where I wanted to use a certin word, but it wouldn't
allow me to, so I never got worked up about it, I just used something else.
But yes, I have noticed that as well, there are just somethings you can't
use.
But there are many others you can though! ;)

yeah I asked Jerry if he could get it changed for me.

The titles names? Can we get the banned words removed for the titles, but keep them for the usernames?

You know, I don't see why any words would be banned to use in the first
place.

I think as long as its kept clean, or using our common sence, it shouldn't
be a problem.
BUT......that is not anything I can change, and OR decide.
If anything, I would ask Chris, why somethings are allowed, and some
not.

The only thing I ever knew to be banned was any mention of stalking in usertitles or any part of your profile. I do remember trying to buy a new usertitle and it kept rejecting what I had come up with, but I can't remember specifically what I was putting in.

^ Evboard Stalker, perhaps? :)

LOL. No, it was back when you first started the EvBoard Bar thread and I was trying to change it to "EvBoard Lush" or something stupid like that, and it wouldn't let me use it.

Princess Mary

^ Lush is a banned word...??? Or maybe Evboard itself is a banned word.

It would still be nice to get a list of all banned words, please someone! :)

That would have been hilarious Julie!!! :D

I can't believe a word like lush, would be banned!?!?
Obviously something as simple as that, I don't understand why
that would be such a problem. * Shakes Head *

I remember a thread about this AGES ago. Explaining why various words were being banned, and that if you had a word, like "angel" in your username, you may be asked to change it. (EDIT: The thread doesn't exist any more, btw... it was long before the crash of '05)

It was established because it got incredibly annoying with people wanting to call themselves certain things. I wouldn't be surprised if variations of Snow White were banned, but I definitely know "angel" was one of them. I think goth/gothic was another. It just got really irritating because everyone was registering with similar names.

Kind of like the epidemic on EvThreads recently where everyone was registering as Snow White Queen or Snow White King or I luv SW, you get the point.

But that was also when we had a bajillion members all the time constantly joining and posting. It even got to a point where you couldn't recognize who was who because their usernames were so damn similar.

Personally, if you're really upset about it, I think you need to give it a rest. Is it really that important that your usertitle be Sparkling Angel? I mean, come on, don't get your panties in a bunch over something like that. It's really not that big of a deal, like Sweet Tigger said, just change it to something else. Do people even look at usertitles?

BTW: Wildangel, I remember you as tatersmomma too. ;)

I know this is probably a stupid question, but how the hell do you change ur usertitles anyways? Is it only after you've been a member for a while or what? :p

Its an option in vbPlaza, to change custom usertitle. (I don't know how many points it costs, but its affordable and worth it. Of course others can change your usertitle as well (ahem Vince, ahem Shannon)

I lurves my lovehs!! <3

It's not a big deal now because I have a new one ^^^ Yeah you can change it, I think it costs about 85 points...

You think that's absurd, the words love and loved are apparently not allowed either.

Or evil. I think evil was also censored at some time and that's when everyone started using "ebil" instead. ::Shrugs::
