Please listen to all of the tracks before voting. This poll will close 72 hours after it is posted. The track with the highest number of votes when the poll closes will be the weekly winner of 5,000 points.
You may campaign and advocate for others to vote for your favorite, but please refer to it as "TRACK #" rather than the artist (as some people will undoubtedly know who is singing in some of these). That is to say, discussion is allowed and encouraged in this thread.
i ranged between track 5 and track 7... both are quite good!
finally i chose track 7

It was between Track 4 and Track 8 for me. (It always seems to come down to two, doesn't it?)
Track 4, Eternal Flame was really very good. This voice is very strong. Again I wish I could vote for two, but I can't.
My vote went to Track 8, Deep Silent. The level of difficulty here is what really convinces me that you have a lot of talent. Your voice is well-suited for an operatic song. It reminded me a little of Liv Kristine. Very, very well done.
I wish all participants good luck! There were many more good voices in this round, even more than I have mentioned.

I really think that we are getting better entries as the weeks go by, good job people!
I am just gonna list the ones that struck me right off.
#3 This song had me cracking up...but in a good way. Nice job.
#6 Nice voice. Not my favorite song in the world (sorry) but nicely done regardless.
#8 Mad props girl! This song was by far the most challenging track. Excellently executed. Your voice is very-well trained and reminds me of my own. Way to Go! *we should duet hehe*
#11 Great job! I loved the acoustic feel. I also love that guys are getting more into this.
#16 Well done and nice voice. I would love to hear you break out of your shell and just belt it. I see tons of potential here.
#23 Great voice and on pitch throughout, made me wanna sing along. Great job!
I am stuck between two and I will be deciding after listening a little more critically. Great entries everybody...lots of talent around here! :D

The only ones that really stood out to me where tracks #8 and #11.
I've never heard either song before today. I felt that #8 was weak in some points, but whoever it is - you have a very, very beautiful voice, that can reach and maintain those high notes perfectly. Hehe. Listening to the mix of your voice with this song made me feel so peaceful. Very beautiful.
I also think that #11 was sung really well. The technique matched the music perfectly, in my opinion. I don't know what else to say, really - I'm definitely no singing expert, I did like this.
Anyway...I think I'm going to go with #8. This one just hits me in all the right ways.

Well that was a fair few to get through! I'm going to be honest, this week there were alot of tracks that seemed to make me squint one eye. It's great to see so many entries though! The track that stood out the most to me was track 5, so this week, I'm going to vote for number 5 :) I listened to the whole song, I enjoyed it that much. It was so in tune, I just loved everything about it. For some reason though, I seem to sense who is singing it. (Though do bear in mind, my sense into who I think it is has not changed my judgement at all)
Good luck to all those that entered!

I voted track 8....I think that Deep Silent Complete very difficult to sing and who sang it in this contest sang it better than nightwish's singer singing live...so congratulation to the singer of track 8 for her wonderful voice...she really deserves to win the contest this week...

All the long task of going through every track. I enjoy it really. :) I probab'y won't get through all in one sitting btw.
1. You sound a little shakey and off key, especially when you go higher, towards the one minute mark you get a lot better. I think your voice is pretty well suited to the song. I'd suggest adding a little reverb on it (not too much) to give it a more haunting feeling. PM me if you want to know how to do it effectively.
2. You have such a LOVELY tone! It gets a little breath-y when you go higher. A pop stopper would be great too. I think your voice would be great with hello or my immortal. A more slow soulful song. I do really like your voice though. :)
3. ROFL! This is great! You also stay pretty much in key, and I didn't get bored at all listening to this song.
4. I hate the song you chose (atomic kitten covered it *DIES*,) but you sang it pretty well. You have a really good voice for pop, it's pretty easy to connect with and listen to. It'd be cool to see other songs you sing throughout the competition.
5. Hello... this is a pretty tricky song to sing. And you sing it well. I love the harmony you added! You sort of dip in and out of singing powerfully and singing softly which irked me a little (I don't mean over long stretches, I mean in one note you'd start soft sing powerfully and then sing soft again,) but you do have a lovely voice. *waits for high note* You hit it really well. I don't really like your vibrato though... it's too fast. I prefer wider vibratos anyway, so it probably isn't technical - more down to personal taste.
6. urgh I hate this song. :p. Sorry. I think you sang it amazingly though. I really believed everything you sang, and your voice has such a lovely colour to it. I think you could have done with a touch let echo, because I don't think you or the song needs it.
7. I don't know this song. I'm not sure if you're singing from the right place, really fill your lungs and use all the muscles in your body to get the notes out. It was a tidy little entry but it didn't really excite me.
8. I know this song LIKE THE BACK OF MY HAND. ;) Just a fyi. You didn't sing the intro, but I suppose that's okay so long as the rest of the song is good. You put a more peaceful perspective to the song. I liked it. You were a little off in terms of timing, but I'll put that down to audacity.
9. 1. You need a better mic. Your voice absolutely deserves it. You go off a little when you go higher. It really got me the way you said "isn't ironic - dont you think." I love the colour and tone of your voice. I also love the bridge. The sound went really bizzare at times though - anyone else get that?
10. What is this song? I've no idea even what the orginal artist is. I liked it, and there were parts I really loved, but it didn't really wow me. I think you sing in your upper register more.
11. Don't know this song either (we are an eclectic bunch at evboard arent we?) The "NO!!!" fucking FREAKED me, mate. I liked the rest of the song though. ;)
12. Gargh, I don't know this song either. You have a nice deep tone to your voice. A pop stopper would help so much though.
13. Why do I not know any of these songs? :p I think your voice works really well with this song. You have a deadpan delivery, that (oddly) carries loads of emotion. I don't know how that works out but yeah. I also liked the effects you added. Not too much, not too little.
I'll have to do the rest later. I'm really impressed with everything I've heard so far!

Track 17 was daring to do "Hurt" by Christina Aguilera. You should have belted it beeatch! You woulda pwned it.
Track 11 was cool. The reverb on the acoustic threw me off a little, but aside from that good job.
Track 02 was one of my favorites. I thought you had a great tone.
Track 23 was another that I liked. Very stripped down and you hit the notes well.
Track 05 was interesting. I liked your voice a lot, but the layering of vocals distracted me from that I thought. Even so, you were my favorite. On the other hand, the layering was what made it 'your own' so to speak. Anyway, I ramble. I VOTED FOR YOU. Hooray! *<8D

#3 – Oh my gosh, you were hysterical! Hahaha! Who does that song? I want to hear the original now ROFL. Oh man that was awesome. You rock. *dies laughing*
#5 – You were great. I think you could do a little better connecting your phrases together, as they were a little choppy and not as legato as the song warrants. I really liked your harmony; haha, if I did that, I would have done a harmony almost exactly like the one you did! Nicely done.
#6 – My friend, you need to go to Best Buy and get a mic for like $20 or $25, because your voice was way too good for that crappy microphone. That was what took away from the song, IMO…the mic was so bad that it kept distorting your vocals any time you put some power into it. Otherwise, you pwn3d that song and you rock for it. Well done!
#8 – Oh my lord you rock for doing Nightwish! I must confess that I don’t know this song but I will have to get my hands on it. You had a few pitch problems but major kudos for pulling off Nightwish so well; that’s hard to do! I’d like to ask you about the song; get in touch with me via PM please?
#12 – Once you got into the song, it was pretty good (namely the chorus). Is this a Japanese song (I thought I caught a few random Japanese words that I knew)? Who is it? It’s a really interesting song.
#13 – You did a good job, but I was really turned off by the massive amount of reverb effects on your vocals. They overpowered your voice and made the sound confusing. You’ve got a beautiful voice, though, a very pure and clear soprano.
#16 – A few minor pitch issues, but it’s a very pretty song, and I like your voice a lot. Did you do the background vocals too? I get the feeling that you were holding back a bit, though…if you were, let it out next time. ;)
#17 – I wish I could hear the instrumental behind you a bit better...I don’t know the song, but I like your voice quite a lot. A couple of random pitch issues, but otherwise well done.
A note in general: I noticed that quite a few of you had REALLY soft music and very loud vocals. Try to mix the two better, so that we can hear the instrumental AND your voice very clearly. The instrumental should be softer than your vocals, enough so we can hear them, but not to the extent where the track is almost silent.

Why am I always lost in a sea of tracks? I think there should be a 10 track per week limit, personally. 24 and 25, that's a bit much.

Anyways, I SEVERELY enjoyed tracks 6, 7, 8, 11, 15, and 23. Great job all of you!
My vote went to #7 though. That voice sounds trained but so emotional, it was gorgeous and even though I do not know the song, it made me want to hear it. Great job!

First off I would just like to say great job to everyone!
I took some notes while listening to some of your songs If any of this sounds harsh, I'm not meaning it to be just helpful criticism.
#9 I really enjoyed this...until the chorus thats when you lost me. Work on control more with your voice just because it gets louder doesn't mean you have to lose your tone.
#11 Best male vocals I really love the sound but in the end it just didn't do it for me but your voice really has promise to it.
#14 Sing from your diaphram you've got a great start
#15 I liked this version of Ironic better. You controlled the chorus better really pretty but you kind lost it on the 2nd verse. I know its hard to maintained esp when you get excited when you nail the first half of a song. Keep working :)
#18 Make it your own don't try to mimic it so much find your own voice!
#22 too nasaly I understand trying to sound like billy but he still maintanes correct tone when he sings.
#8 I had to go back to listen to yours because it wouldn't load at first. You have a good voice but I just didn't like it as a whole, sorry. But don't give up.
My pick #5
Hello.. absolutely beautiful. You had the most solid performance. Some advice, try some breathing exercises it might help your stamina on those long notes. I really enjoyed your voice I'd like to hear you sing good enough on TOD. It's definitely in your range :)

14. Another song I don't know at all. The echo was sort of annoying, it'd be cooler if you used reverb rather than the echo tool. I'm totally feeling the reverb love at the moment for some reason - but echo I find kind of distracted.
15. You sung the song pretty well, but it was one of those entries that just didn't get me really excited. You stayed on key, and you have a nice voice, but I wasn't really gripped.
16. I agree with Katya, it sounds like you're holding back. I find it kind of enchanting though. You sound sort of vulnerable. It made my insides go melty.
17. I have never heard this song, but I think it would have benefitted from a bit more belting. You stayed on key, which was good, but I think you'd be better singing a different song.
18. Another track that is solid but doesn't really grab me. I don't really have a lot to say.
19. I like your vibrato. And your general tone. YOU NEED A BETTER MIC. It all sounds like your singing from under a pillow because of your microphone and you have a really great voice that deserves proper recording. It'd be cool to hear you really let rip up high, though.
20. It'd have been cool if you'd have sung with the backing track. The harmonies were freaky - sounded a bit like a rotary organ. ;)
21. You have some times when you sing off key, but the song was good to listen to.
22. You're kinda nasaly. Thats sort of all I have to say. I liked the song choice. :)
GAH going to have to do the last three tommorrow.

If this were a live competition, lord, it would be an entirely new ballgame methinks.In fact, I'm mulling over the idea of going it acapella next week, lol. Raw nothing enhanced, nothing added.Then it will have to be based entirely on my chops not song choice, limited mixing ability or lack of good mic.:p.
I happened to use a webcam mic(the rules allow this mind you) this week because my husband's computer is not set up to allow external mics.Those of you also dealing with the same crappy circumstances I applaud your efforts.
At any rate I am stuck between about 3 tracks and will vote later.
Edit- I voted 7. Kinda a funny story but my kids and hubby said your voice reminds him of mine when I sing that type of music. I had to vote for you simply because of that over the other 3 that I did like too.

short critiques!
1. you're a bit off all the time... work on hitting those notes!
2. not a bad voice, could be a little stronger
3. i really don't like kelis but you weren't bad! :) you get a little drowned out on the chorus
4. pretty good job, some notes were a bit flat, but overall it was good.
5. very nice! i love the harmony with your own voice in the background! some points sound a little shakey, but that may just be the vibrato.
6. a little behind, but way closer than my damn software lol! something in your voice puts me off, i can't figure out what it is.....it's not bad quality or anything...gah!
7. i love this song! you did a good job! one of my faves!
8. i don't know this song....you can sing! wow!
9. kind of off hun, i think you could do it if you get on key!
10. hmmm... maybe if you sang a bit louder on the quiet parts it would sound closer to key, the high parts are very good tho!
11. not too bad! good song, that NO! was creepy tho, your whisper isn't quite the "yell" you intended it to be
12. neat song, the being too close to the mic ruins it tho :(
13. your voice is amazing, the high notes are a bit strained but i liked it!
14. the echo throws it off a bit but not bad
15. very nice job, reminds me of my voice :)
16. nice voice but didn't do much for me
17. don't know this song either :) really good job hun! another fave
18. strong voice! fave!
19. nice voice, it's a little muted but that's probably just the recording.
20. eh.....you're off the notes in the beginning, the harmony got you back on track
21. i love this song! strange to hear it that low, a bit off, i wonder if you tried it higher how it would sound?
22. i hate this damn song lol, you did a pretty good job, a little bit off on the notes.
23. were you playing as well? nice! i really like this on! fave!
24. erm. didn't really care for this one.

Woohoo, here we go:
(again, no one take offense please. :))
Track #1: Shakey start. I like your voice, though I feel you were off pitch a bit. Interesting song choice. The ending was nice. :)
Track #2: Yay for doing this song, lol. :mrgreen: You have a nice voice, but I feel that you're either holding back or you're purposely singing quietly, as if you didnt' want anyone to hear you. :(
Track #3: I LOVE YOU. My only problem is that Kelis overpowered you in the chorus. :tear:
Track #4: For some reason this song reminds me of Christmas? lol :p I'm just weird. Anyway, you have a pretty voice. You sang this pretty well. :)
Track #5: I like your voice, a lot. :) I think this is the best karaoke version of Hello I've ever heard. Amazing job.
Track #6: Whoa oldschool. :eek: You sound great. Right now you're my pick for the winner.
Track #7: I am a huge 30STM fan. I'm sad that I can barely hear the music to this song. :( You sing well, but I sort of feel as if you're rushing this song, but this could be because I'm sad I can't hear the music. I also feel as if you're lacking a certain emotion for this song. I could also just be biased, so sorry about that. :p
Track #8: Ooh, nice voice for a Nightwish song. You did a great job, Nightwish is hard.
Track #9: Just so you know, I loooooooove Alanis. I like your voice. :) The chorus puts me off a bit, but overall, it's good. I wish you had proper recording equipment. :( Great job!
Track #10: I like I like I like. I love "The ocean, through the desert, snow" part. Good job. :)
Track #11: I felt like you were playing the guitar while you were singing. That might be because the music was so loud. :p You did a pretty good job, I liked the "no" but not the "be." The effect of both was cool, I just didn't like the "be." I did think the "what have I become" was nifty. :) Overall, this was good.
Track #12: what language is this in? I liked this; I wish I could understand what you were singing. :p
Track #13: I don't think it's you, it's just the song in general, but I think it's really boring. I've never heard the original of this before, but I'm assuming you haven't butchered the original to make it boring, so I'll blame the original song. :p
Track #14: Shit, I know this song. WHO SINGS IT? It's cute, just not exciting. :(
Track #15: You didn't do a bad job, but I just really wasn't into this. =/
Track #16: I like the background vocals. If those vocals are you, then you have a lot of potential, and you didn't showcase your voice enough in this song. :(
Track #17: Aw, yay for doing Christina. I would've liked to hear more emotion in your voice.
Track #18: Strong voice! I would like to hear the music a bit louder, though. I don't like the "and i never wanna say goodbye" part, but everything else was pretty well sung.
Track #19: I like this recording in general. I think the fact you don't have amazing recording equpiment gave a new feel to this song. Kind of a cool feel.
Track #20: I like the atmosphere of this. A lot, it's sort of creepy, but in a good way.
Track #21: Just to warn you, I don't like this song, or really any songs by Switchfoot. You were a little off key, but I blame it on the fact that you sang a sucky song and it wasn't really your fault. :p
Track #22: I may hate Switchfoot, but I love any and all Green Day. I like your version of this song, because I think your voice is nifty. :)
Track #23: Ah! Anna Nalick. Yay. I love the sound/atmosphere of your recording. Good voice too, and nice pitch. :)
Track #24: I think this is cute, lol. I like your voice too.
Bolded are my favorites, I ended up voting for number 6. :)

Etherealme is right. maybe we all shouldn't be that based on technical quality, but on vocals. It's also true that with technical difficulties, it's harder to judge the voice... I recorded with the microphone of my hearing aides (the loudspeakers don't work...), and it doesn't even work that well... I guess how confusing it must be for the listener...
With that said, I haven't heard them all, so I can't vote yet...
Track number 3: that's what I call Audacity!!!

Unless the mic distorts someone so much I can't hear them, I will always vote on voice rather than technical expertise or equipment - otherwise it's just unfair. I will often say to people "You NEED a better mic" but I won't not vote for them, I just think that they're voice is so good it deserves better.
I would like to add something else: Don't judge people badly if they're slightly out of time. Audacity puts me out of time almost everytime I record it. Just a note to those whodon't use audacity or have never had this problem. :)

This is true. There was one such recording I was getting rather frustrated with...CMWYS. :p I was out of time the whole time, and I freaking turned up that music so loud so I could hear the beat, and what I was hearing myself sounded just fine, tthen when I listened to it, it was waaaaay off. Audacity kinda sucks that way, but I am satitisfied with a free program. :cool:
I am not trying to make excusese for myself either. ;)

23: You've got a really nice voice, full of emotion. Did you play the guitar as well? Anyway, it adds a really nice sort of feeling to the song. <3 Loved it.
24. This is kinda eh for me. I think you'd benefit from a backing track. If none of the 5 appealed to you, look at alarandiia's list of karaoke songs and get in touch with her if you want to use one.

Didn't we just talk about not having to benefit from a backing track? Hahah. Plus, with the "if none of the five appealed to you bit"...doesn't it say "or a song of your choice"?

Okay, I actually took notes on every single one of those songs. And I'm going to post them here.
Note, please don't take anything I write personally. If I give suggestions, it's only meant to try to help you improve. I get kind of repetetive with the "sing out/have confidence" and "emphasize ds, ts, vs, etc more." For this reason, if you submitted a karaoke track, you might want to just read your own.
Once again, don't hate me :p. For most of them I just wrote down what struck me right away, and I wrote it as the song was playing. I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but if you're song didn't sound good to me, I'm going to tell you why. =/
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>yo<~~
#01: Voice all over the place, out of tune/flat a lot. If singing along with headphones on: shouldn't. Need to be able to hear self while singing to control pitch.
#02: Good voice, sing louder.
#03: Oh god, you're so white. lol.
#04: Emphasize d's, t's, s's, etc. more.
#05: Good voice; open up your mouth more while singing.
#06: The music is too loud, making it harder to hear you. Excellent voice. Doesn't hold back: ++++++++++!!! =D
#07: Maybe it isn't, but sounds like it's being sung sharp or something. =/. Good voice.
#08: Nice voice =). Timing sounded a bit off at a couple of points, but that could have been my imagination.
#09: Nice voice at the beginning, hen goes out of tune... back in tune for "isn't it ironic?" part... then out of tune again.
#10: WAY too quiet. Utada, though!! I thought I recognized this song =P. Somebody is slightly out of tune in some parts. The girl who sings deeper: I think you'd sound better if you sang out more. Don't hold back!! Timing is off. Girl who sings high: Are you Hikki? Haha. Because I can't distinguish a difference between you and her.
#11: Nice voice, too quiet in comparison to the music and I can tell by your quiet/suppressed screaming that you are holding back. Don't be afraid to go all out. Sing it with the strength and volume that you would in front of an audience of people.
#12: Back away from the mic a bit, it's picking up your breathing as PLSHSTTCBLCKSHTCH [yes, I actually wrote that, letter-for-letter, in my notebook]. Otherwise, though, pretty good =). And pretty japanese, haha. =P
#13: Reverb/echo = BAD! Good voice. Emphasize the non-vowel parts of the words more. A bit unclear what you're saying.
#14: You're holding back!!!!!!!! Stop it. Open your mouth more while you sing. Don't be afraid to put everything forward and go for it.
#15: Good voice, you have the tune too! You can sing!! lol =D. You also have a good control over your voice. Despite all that, I think you can do even better if you sing out more.
#16: You have a nice sound to your voice =). There are some parts of the song that you don't appear to have complete control over, though. Practice, focus, and confidence can remedy that.
#17: Your song sounds good, but it sounds like you're singing as if it's the middle of the night and people are sleeping in the next room. You need to sing out more and with more confidence. The second time you sing the chorus, it sounds really good, by the way.
#18: You sing out! Yay! ^.^; You sound confident. There are a few notes which you don't hit, but you can. Just work on getting more control.
#19: Your voice is shaky. You hit the notes, but you don't do it confidently. Don't hold back. More breath support might help the shakey notes. Around the two minute area, this stops, but it starts again around 2:15 or 2:20 or something. This proves to me that you have the potential. Sing out with confidence. You belted: "Suddenly I know I'm not" and then got really quiet at "sleeping." HAVE NO FEAR. It was sounding good until you suddenly lowered the volume so drastically.
#20: Hitting all the notes! The added parts sound bad. I like it better when you sing without them. You have an amazing vocal range. Get training if you haven't. It will help to hone your voice. You have serious potential!
#21: Lack of emphasis on the t's, v's, etc. Notes are off through the entire song.
#22: You go from holding back to not holding back to holding back to not holding back. Step back from the mic a little bit and just sing out the whole time. Many notes are off.
#23: This has an overall nice-ness to the sound. It feels relaxed. You sound like you're just flowing with the music. I really like your voice. Very well performed! =).
#24: You sound like you were singing while sitting and doing something else. Like you weren't fully concentrated on the music. Sing with more force next time, further from the mic, with more breath support (and possibly and backing track) and I'm sure it'll sound significantly better!
24. This is kinda eh for me. I think you'd benefit from a backing track. If none of the 5 appealed to you, look at alarandiia's list of karaoke songs and get in touch with her if you want to use one.
Didn't we just talk about not having to benefit from a backing track? Hahah. Plus, with the "if none of the five appealed to you bit"...doesn't it say "or a song of your choice"?
:-)
Had to rub that in your face, sorry if it sounded rude :-p
Well the singer was off key so I think they would have SUNG BETTER with a backing track, as it would have helped keep them in time and on key. I was trying to be constructive. :rolleyes: Also I gave an alternative source of karaoke tracks - I'm fully aware that you don't have to do one of the five.
I don't understand why I got negged for saying that. I'm not saying it has to be mixed perfectly, but just having it played in the background while your singing can help people stay on key and get more into the song. Just because I don't like ONE persons entry? That seems pretty stupid to me.
It was stupid. RuleroftheWorld, may I offer you some advice? You are new here, so you should learn to watch what you say. Don't piss off people with better rep than you, because when you say stupid things, their negs will ultimately take more away from your rep than yours will away from theirs. Also, if you have drama, take it to the pm's. This is not the place. It is the place to review the karaoke submissions and talk about them. Darko was expressing her opinion, which is, ultimately, allowed.
Sorry to sound like a mod, which I am not, but honestly.
Just a little FYI but no one should know track 14 because it is an original song. Just thought i'd share that since i know who submitted it. That would also be why there is no background track because the background music has yet to be created. hehe but i think a lot of people did really well but in the end i went with 5 because after listening to 4 or 5 of them 7 times yours was the only one i could stand to listen to again.
Sorry :-/ I guess I worded it wrong. But y'know, it Is only text, so it has to be taken at face value, so it's my fault. I only meant that wel iterally just talked about voting based on voice, not by who had a background track or whatever, and I didn't intend for it to sound angry. Darko, I'm sorry I negged you, I was shocked because I didn't think my reason would deserve a neg.
Again, I'm sorry for being such a nooblet, I also didn't see a "list of other karaoke songs" thread when I looked, but I could have typed it in wrong in the search bar.
Sorry for causing a hullaballoo :-/
I voted for #5...It was very good. I skipped to the ending to see if she can hit the high notes and I was impressed. Hello is a hard song to sing. No one can beat Amy singing it though.
