Wow that's really awesome! Is the fish called Discus or is that the actually type of fish it is?

I'm assuming they're saltwater, too, right?

very nice Discus man and to answer your question Ice Blue...that is the type of fish They are not a saltwater fish, they are one of the harder freshwater fish to keep. My first experience with a Discus was I put him in with a convict chiclid LOL. Needless to say the next morning I got up and my poor discus was all mangled. He did survive the night though so I got him out and put him into his own tank. He got a nasty case of ick but I got that cured and he grew big and lived for along time. I gave him a few buddies later on that wouldn't pick on him to. Looks as if you are using live plants in their tank to, I was never a fan of fake plants.

Seeing your tank makes me really want to set mine up again but I can't till we finish remodeling the living room. I doubt I'd do Discus though, I'd either do just a community tank. What size tank is that man?

Before I moved to where we are now I used to build slate caves and pebble wells and sold them locally to fish stores in the neighborhood, If I can dig up some pictures of them I'll post them for you to see....I'll also look for pictures of the last tank I had set up.

(dont know if you meant me or another Chris but I am into aquariums if you didn't know)

Ooooooooh, I love fish too! I can't give a large tank the attention and care it would need in my dorm, so I just have a Betta with me for now. His name is Phoenix, and I absolutely love him. I wish they would get along with other fish though, because I'd love to have him in a tank where he wouldn't eat the other occupants He's in mating season right now, because he keeps blowing those bubble nests right after I clean his vase out, but I dont want to get him a girlfriend. My sister has a male and female Betta but they kick the crap out of each other when they aren't in the mood for teh babies.

Hi Chris, yes, I meant you lol. I would love to see some pics of your past aquariums. my tank is a 4 foot x2x2. I have convinced my wife that I need a 6 footer for Christmas!! I think it would make a nice center piece in the lounge room. Unfortunately I presently have my fish in treatment for plague, not nice. I bought that yellow one pictured with 2 others and they looked fine at the fish farm, and when I got them home and in my tank, there was slime coat coming off and they went into the corner and wouldn't eat. the next day or two and 2 of my other fish did the same. They all had got discus plague. They are now almost 100%, treatment will be finished on Friday. Hey Saphira, I have 2 Betta's as well ones called Simon, the others victor. they are both crown tails. Also be careful putting males in with females, the females sometimes kill the males after breeding, so best to keep an eye on them!!!

I'll boot up the old desktop today or tomorrow and see if I can find some of my old tank pics. Are you doing water changes with your treatment or are you using a canister filter to clean the water of the old medicine or both?

Im using 250mg of metro to per liters of water for 48 hours, followed by a 30% water change, repeated 3 times. temp up to 30 degrees. I have my external canister filter going, but with the carbon removed and lights are off. I also had to turn off my UV sterilizer. Hope my plants make it through the temp and lack off light!!! Its 5am her and Im about to go to work, came in to feed the fish and they all look really happy now. cant wait to get the lights back on them.

So they doing better today? Well I guess my pictures are history I tried to boot up the old desktop (it hasn't been booted up in over a year) and the hard drive is corrupt on it now. So I wasn't able to recover anything from it and of the sites I had pictures posted at, they have stopped hosting the pics I guess because the upload files show up as red X's now. Well, if I ever get going on a new tank setup I'll be sure to share pictures here.

Holy crap. I'll stick with my goldfish. All that mumbo jumbo about temp and water change sounds more complicated than brain surgery.

hope this fish are doing well! They look cool!
