Jesus, that looks huge and evil. o_o
I'm not normally scared of spiders, though. I'm much MUCH more afraid of moths & butterflies. Eek.

AHHHH HOLY FUCKING CRAP CRAP CRAP.
I had to deal with one of those huge bastards once. At Girl Scout camp, incidentally. I was reading in my tent and I looked up [through the damn mosquito netting, THANK GOD] and saw one of them crawling along the wall RIGHT NEXT TO ME. I screamed by damn head off and ran out of the tent. One of the other girls had to get a stick and a bag and beat him off the tent before I could even THINK about going back inside. .:shivers:. eeeeeeeEEEEEE. God. AH. So utterly terrifying.

They're hard to get rid of though bc of all the nice hiding places in the attic and throughout the walls etc.
Fog them out, you only kill some of them while the rest re-locate and come out after the fog has cleared. From what I've read, kill their food source and you've pretty much given them a buffet since some studies showed a very high % chose dead prey over live. I got a reply to my long ass email from an insured pest co. and was told my email was read directly to the owner and that he thinks he may be able to help me. Need to give him a call tommorrow afternoon. Since my current pest guy is coming out tommorrow to spray all the cabinets, I figured I better empty them all. During the process I grew some balls and poked my flashlight and head around to see if there were any signs of them. There are still 3 recluse (one is prego) stuck to the glueboard under the kitchen sink. When all was said and done I found about 10 recluse shells (molts) and vac'd up 5 egg sacs. I guess they lay 5 to 6 sacs and each one can have up to like 50. About a month ago I got rid of eggs that were stashed all along the bottom trim of those cabinets. There were some on window sills and in bathroom cabinets also. What makes me sure the place is infested is the amount of tiny ones that the fiddle is barely visible on that I've found along baseboards, the egg sacs I got rid of which the female only lays in dark undisturbed areas (they must be running out of room in the attic lol) and the glueboard traffic I was getting. Tiny moltings were also found on my bedroom ceiling which I'm sure were there when the previous dumb asses lived here. I do think all this work I've done and have yet to do will eventually put an end to them. Sorry for the long ass post. I'm starting to feel a bit safer about this. Time to look over my shoulder.. Here's a pic of a molt I found in the cabinet tonight. They look too much like a live spider. ![]()

That doesn't make me any less freaked out. I've made my boyfriend put them in a cup and take them outside on multiple occasions because I'm too chicken shit to do it myself.

Christ. I would move out of my house if I saw anything like that. I love fuzzies but not creepy crawlies. Small spiders are ok but anything else... wasps, scorpions especially... I could beat the world record holder at the hundred meter dash.

Yeah the first is a wolf spider. we have them at work. They get huge. As far as the recluses, I hate those things.
We had a huge yellow/black garden spider last year outside under the window. it's legspan was about the size of a cd. body was about the size of two pop lids. he used to eat monarch butterflies. |
