Love how I had the thought... "It seems like I only go to threads in this forum of bands I've HEARD of, why don't I take a chance with something completely different"
THUS... I hit this thread, having NO clue what to expect. I saw the mention of a female "opera" type voice with more of a rock backing to it... and I became more intrigued. Downloaded a clip of "Dead Boy's Poem", and I liked it quite a lot. I'll see if I can find a few full songs, give those a listen, and then ATTEMPT to hunt down a CD if at all possible. What a great thing this board is. ETA... a little bit later, I'm about halfway through downloading "Ever Dream" (damn dialup)... and I listened to the first half and I'm thinking... "No way... I am NOT getting serious chills from how extremely insanely awesome this is." Is there such thing as love at first listen? I've found something that somehow fits my taste PERFECTLY. It's a scary, scary thing. |

This is why I must thank Evanescence
It is opening the scene to those metal bands already known around the metal scene but never heard of by so many Nightwish rocks hard, it introduced me to metal a lot, I´ve seen their great great DVD (an almost alternative band with a DVD - they make success over Finland - their homeland - and Germany), and actually I think they´re the best band ever (am I allowed to say it in such forum?) To apologize, Evanescence is the best I ever seen on MTV Brazil more than twice (because I seen Nightwish clip Bless the Child twice here, 1:30 a.m. both). Evanescence is also the best US band ever. |

Geez! I go away from the board for a few days and look what I find! One of my favorite bands being discussed! Yeah, nightwish is totally awesome and they have outstanding production on their albums! I am seeing them twice this year! Once in NyC and in Montreal. I have been waiting a very long time for them to come over to North America for a tour but at least they're playing a few shows in my "area".

Nightwish rock indeed. I didn't know they had so many fans outside Europe, but its great to see. I love their stuff, and they were the ones that introduced me to more heavy stuff than just soft r&b and pop. I don't think century Child is as good as their other albums tho..
