Wow, I was truly analyzing lyrics and I realized just how much poetry is really behind these words.

If any of my English teacher nerds could read these... Seriously, I see parallels to neo-classical European literature in Tuomas' words. Its effing amazing. Most Nightwish listeners probably dont understand the many allusions to God/Jesus, mythology, symbols... Its amaznig just how saturated the songs are with so many literary allusions and symbols.

Toll no bell for me father
But let this cup of suffering pass from me
Send me no shepherd to heal my world
But the Angel - the dream foretold
Prayed more than thrice for you to see
The wolf of loneliness in me
...not my own will but yours be done...

Much of Jesus' prayer in the garden of Gethsemane.

The carpenter
Carved his anchor
On the dying souls of mankind
On the tomb of this unknown soldier
Lay the tools of the one who for us had died
Tools of the carpenter

Most of The Carpenter is about Jesus' legacy and martyrdom.

The Kinslayer is about the Columbine high school shooting.

Creek Mary's Blood is obviously inspired from the story of the same name.

Cinnamon nest
Forgot what song, but cinnamon nest is a reference to the Phoenix, the bird.

It really is amazing just how much is- not just peppered or sprinkled- but SOAKED into the words that are written. I wonder where he draws all this from... Or who his influences are.

I think it's just whatever inspires him. If he reads a Prayer he likes, it might inspire him.

If he watches a movie he likes, It might inspire him. (look at Fantasmic. Entirely a tribute to Disney.)

Y'know? I love the way TUomas songwrites...

There's a bunch here but you can't download them, just watch them.

GREETINGS FROM TUOMAS
It`s been 3 months since the last show in Hartwall Arena and things are finally calming down. I just read through the yet unfinished version of the upcoming Nightwish-book. I was very impressed. It made me feel nostalgic, happy, ashamed and sad at the same time. This book is written by Mr. Mape Ollila and it`s being finished as we speak. The Finnish version of the book will be released in May. Also the live dvd "End Of An Era" will be released later this year but we have no information about the exact release date yet.

At the moment I`m occupied with writing songs for the next Nightwish album. 14 pieces done so far. I`m also participating in Timo Rautiainen`s solo album, the new For My Pain album, and some Kotiteollisuus´ live gigs before summer. With Nightwish we will start rehearsing the new stuff in June, entering the studio in September. Again we will write a diary through this site so you guys know what`s happening while in the studio. New Nightwish-homepage will also see daylight soon.

At the moment Emppu has his own side projects, Marco is working with the new Tarot-album and Jukka is busy with his new project, unrelated to music business.

The new singer will be announced through this site when the time comes. Please believe in nothing that`s not confirmed on this page.

Spirits up,

Tuomas
