As Kaydee mentioned, new members only receive a Welcoming Committee Guide if they post in the Introduce Yourself forum.

So many members join but never post, so it's just easier for us to only initiate the ones who continue posting. Unfortunately, the only way we can really tell that is if they post in the intro forum. It's inconvenient for a few, but works for the majority.

Having FAQs and other threads like this is a good opportunity for new members to understand what goes on around EVboard. Trust me, everytime I'm at the JC message forums, the noobs don't even bother to read the rules and FAQs before posting a thread (whether theres already a thread on a particular topic). I've been a member there since nov 2000 and I am glad to be a member here on EVboard.

So im used to being a n00b

Even though Im not exactly a noob anymore I'll post...
I read the FAQ's and lurked for a quite a while...I was quite scared to post after I joined

So when I posted in the intro thread, I was like okay dont make a new thread, so without relizing it for awhile I posted in someone else thread welcoming myself...lol.

1. Has your welcoming committee member introduced you either by PM or introduce yourself post? Yes. But by my own fault only one person did.

2. Have you ever PM'd your welcoming committee member if you've had any concerns? How many times can you remember actually PMing about any questions to the committee? I PM'd Miles D once with a question about threads/posts etc.

3. If you have, how often do you PM? Once

4. What do you like about the committee? What do you dislike about the committee? Do you have an opinion at all? I think they are very nice, and I think its a very positive attribute to the board. It makes teh noobs feel special

5. Do you feel that more should be done in educating the newer posters (ie, you) on the board? If so, how? Im pretty sure if the Noobs just read the FAQ's they would know everything they need to know. Plus the welcome commitee makes it very clear if you have any questions to PM them. So no...I've been very happy

I've been a member for a few months now, and I think this is only my 2nd post. I've been kinda scared, because from what I've seen, its really easy to post the wrong things in the wrong places!

I've not actually had a member of the 'welcoming committee' PM me. I didn't know such a thing existed.

*looks around nervously*

That kind of nervousness is something we like to get rid of.

As a moderator, I feel it necessary to say, I don't care what you post and generally I don't care where as long as it follows the rules, which are while kind of lengthy, very easy to follow.

I get upset because there are so many people that jump on the board and don't follow anything that is mentioned in the FAQ.

If there's a question that you have, it's generally very easy to search for an answer. I'd say about 8-10 if you do the search corrrectly.

Let's just say that you're looking for info on a band whose name is less than four letters. You may know the name of an album or a song by that artist, or if you know the name of the lead singer or drummer, you can find the answer. They'll give you a list of other threads in a certain forum by time of last post and all you have to do is search through that to find what you're looking for.

If you want to post something, you're more than allowed, just make sure that if there's something that hasn't been posted in in a long time that there's new info on a thread that relates to it.

Hey, Illustr8iv, I don't remember you posting an Introduction thread...see, we WC members can't know about every person who joins the board, so the way we work is by using the Introduction threads to assign people and guide them. So if you didn't, it would be a good idea to do so, if only to let us get to know you a bit. If you did...well then I'm sorry about the oversight. Usually, we're pretty good at getting everyone but there's always the possibility that we'll miss one. :X

I will take you on and guide you, if you like

i don't know if i'm still classified as a n00b but i just wanted to say i agree with Head. the newer n00bs just don't seem as serious about contributing to the board as me, mallory, and other FAIRLY new members when we joined. i read through EVERYTHING!! i read through the faq's, lly's general rules post, cfw's addendum to lly's post, announcements. i read EVERYTHING!! i just don't see what's the point if nobody's gonna take this committee seriously. they're here to help people!!! this was created to help n00bs...use it to your advantage people.
