Noob feedback.

A couple of months back, we started something called the Evboard Welcome Committee as a result of many newer posters getting banned for not being clear as to what the rules of this board were.

I want lurkers, noobies, and everybody who's already introduced themselves over the past couple of months to give the Evboard committee your feedback as to how we're handling your concerns.

1. Has your welcoming committee member introduced you either by PM or introduce yourself post?
2. Have you ever PM'd your welcoming committee member if you've had any concerns? How many times can you remember actually PMing about any questions to the committee?
3. If you have, how often do you PM?
4. What do you like about the committee? What do you dislike about the committee? Do you have an opinion at all?
5. Do you feel that more should be done in educating the newer posters (ie, you) on the board? If so, how?

I'll add questions as I go.
I just want to get a general idea from the newer posters as to how we have helped if at all.

My general view is that if there are still that many locked threads in EvChat, then we may not have done what we've wanted to accomplish.

Then again, I feel that we have gone to everybody who's needed help and has answered the call of duty.

This is an open post for the new posters. Post what you think. Don't PM the answers, because this is for about 10 different people.

The almost complete lack of anything resembling a response from the n00bs of the board should speak volumes in itself, Cf...

They can't even be bothered to read threads SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THEM...

wow. I managed to edit myself... Yay me.

I give it 48 hours for things to change dramatically. If they don't, I shall resign from the welcoming committee... It's like bailing out the Titanic with a thimble...

BringOnTheRain will become famous soon enough
I joined a couple of months ago and I don't recollect any welcoming committee. I remember someone mentioning that the welcoming committee should be talking to me soon, but they never did that I can recall. I'm not mad about it. I have a friend who's been a member for a while and she showed me the ropes. As far as I can tell I'm following rules. I don't know whether the other n00bs had the same response I did. I did feel welcomed by everyone, but I was and still am a tad fuzzy on things. I'm learning as I go and I PM others to ask questions. I hope that my respponse isn't taken the wrong way. I know everyone on here has a million things to do, so I completely understand if they missed one n00b. No hard feelings to anyone on the committee. I don't really have any suggestions at the moment. I think n00bs should take advantage of these stickies that are afterall made for their benefit. I hope my input helps you a little. Sorry it couldn't have been more insightful.

Christina

Disreguard me not seeing anyone... I am a retard! I did have a committe member welcome me. DUH! Sorry for the ignorance! I do appreciate it guys!

My guide hasn't PMed me or posted on my thread, so I haven't PMed him. I've only PMed one person, and that was in response to a locked thread that I wanted to respond to. It was nice to get a welcoming post from a member of the committee, and I don't think it really needs to be changed much. I just learned things on my own, since this is the first board I've joined. That was the best way for me.

Thanks for the questions, I don't know if I helped much.

i'm not really a n00b anymore but i'll give you my response :

1. Has your welcoming committee member introduced you either by PM or introduce yourself post?
yes
2. Have you ever PM'd your welcoming committee member if you've had any concerns? How many times can you remember actually PMing about any questions to the committee?
I haven't had any other concerns, none
3. If you have, how often do you PM? n/a
4. What do you like about the committee? What do you dislike about the committee? Do you have an opinion at all?
the team is very nice to me, and all the new members. they get personal.
5. Do you feel that more should be done in educating the newer posters (ie, you) on the board? If so, how?
Not really, you do enough, and if they don't get it still, they are n00bs for life

uhh....hello welcoming committee. i've been a member for 3 months and i don't know if i'm doing well.

lol

i don't know if i'm still classified as a n00b but i just wanted to say i agree with Head. the newer n00bs just don't seem as serious about contributing to the board as me, mallory, and other FAIRLY new members when we joined. i read through EVERYTHING!! i read through the faq's, lly's general rules post, cfw's addendum to lly's post, announcements. i read EVERYTHING!! i just don't see what's the point if nobody's gonna take this committee seriously. they're here to help people!!! this was created to help n00bs...use it to your advantage people.

that's all!

Well every new person I have PM has asked me questions, or at least responded to say thanks for the welcome and if I have questions I'll come to you.

I get about a 33% reply rate. Mos of those are "Thanks for the welcome", which is nice.

I've only had 3 or 4 people actually ask questions.
