Sadness

Soo.. One year ago was the official release of TOD! I still remember how excited I was when I heard it for the first time. I had so many different feelings.
But so many things have happened since then. John was fired, Rocky left, the singles flopped (maybe except CMWYS), Ev lost many fans but of course got new fans.
..and my attitude about the Band (and especially Amy) changed!

Just wanted to know.. did your opinion about the band change? do you love the band as much as you did one year (2,3 years ago) if yes, why?

p.s. does anybody know how many times it's been sold?

I was EXACTLY like that. I remember Lithium making me melt and I was so excited about their London concert that November...which was pretty crap, but then again I fainted and that always ruins things for me.
Yeah, my opinion about the band has definately changed. But then again, so has my musical taste so it's not all down to what's happened this past year.

One year has passed since that october 3rd. I remember my expectation too. I loved (and still love) TOD, the way it is. I remember the dissapointment 'bout it in everywhere, the comments,etc, but only TOD is kinda different. Something new...and I learned to love it, there's a lot of feelings inside it.. there's no way of comparison with Fallen. Fallen is Fallen and TOD is TOD.. well I lost the topic I guess...

My feelings 'bout the band have changed... definately..I mean, the band I knew, the people I loved -togheter- are gone, the band is gone for me in a way..ok it's still evanescence but something very very important is missing now. But, what can I say? changes happen and they're part of the life. Everything changes and nothing is eternal. I still love my band in a different way, but I love them for give us their talent and more maybe we can't see..things have been not so good lately but...you love your friends and family with their "defects", why not my band or the leading singer of it?..

I remember all to well, it was on a Tuesday, I was in school, I had like three test but i didn't give a damn, I just wanted to go to Walmart and get the open door, even though I could have listened to it earlier on the internet, I felt as if i would betray the band if i did that, I don't know why. So i got on the bus, I went there got the open door, ran home and popped it inot my cd player and closed the door so no one would mess with me or bother me. I listened to sweet sacrifice adn then it came to me, the song that chilled my bones, snow white queen, i was back in love with ev and i knew something, they came back! My opinion did change, at first i thought the album was "too soft' for some reason but then it grew on me, and its even heavier than fallen. I think it sold 5 million around the world, but thats cool, its not about sales, its about the music, and listening to the open door, thats what i realize. So HAPPY ANIVERSERY THE OPEN DOOR!!!!!!

Today is the exact day that, I had bought THE OPEN DOOR album!!
And I am just as into it, as the first day I heard it!!
This is one of their best work, I think Every song is just amazing, and so very well writen!!
I think the three years we all had to wait for TOD, was so very well worth the wait!!
One thing I have learned about Ev, you never know what to expect, but one thing is for sure, its always going to better then words can ever say!!
With the sensational, beautiful, soothing, calming, simply Amazing sound of Amy's voice, And the hard, heavy pounding of the guitars, and drums, my gosh, that is everything I can ask for!!!

I remember how excited I was for TOD (and how much I bugged all my friends by constantly reminding them how many days were to go).
I also remember how shocked I was when I actually heard it. I didn't think it was bad or anything....just REALLY different. After CMWYS, I was surprised(yet somehow not) at how all the singles seemed to bomb. They were so unpopular, that I never even heard them on the radio at all. Then there was all the drama with Amy, and people getting fired, and all the stuff with EvBoard......I don't even want to get in to that.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't hate Evanescence or anything; it's just not exactly "my" Evanescence anymore. They're still my favorite band, just not the same.

How could i forget this? It's October 3rd! Happy birthday TOD! I guess Evanescence is never the same, and to say the truth, i'm glad that they changed. A band with no variety is a boring band. I leave the drama behind, i keep my respect for John, Rocky as well as Will, Ben and David (as i always did, unlike the Amy Worshippers.....), and I keep enjoying TOD. I hope Ev will keep changing in the next album of theirs. December 29th will be the day i put TOD on my iPod! Hahaha.

Wow, I can't believe it has been a full year since the debut of TOD! Had you not mentioned it I never would have thought of it.

I am aware of all these changes that have been going on internally with the band, but that doesn't change my point of view of Evanescence. Some people are calling Amy a bitch, or harassing other band members. I don't care for gossip or news unless it's actually important (like a death or injury, etc..). I respect the right to privacy, and don't think I need to investigate what is going on in their lives. I appreciate the music they create and direct which is always beautiful, and to me that is all that matters. As long as the passion to keep Evanescence is going, I am happy. Whatever direction they take is up to them. Whatever happens within their band is not I will spend hours deliberating over. I'm just happy that they are doing what they're doing.

i remember i originally bought the open door for a friend but she didnt listen to it so i stole it and ran upstairs and sat in front of the stereo and listened to sweet sacrifice.... it was amazing this album is on a level all its own.. just like Fallen, even though since the release the only original Ev member is Amy now the music is still amazing and good luck to the band and lets hope for more amazing music to rant on about!!!!!

I remember buying it last year the first day it came out. I had been waiting sooooo long to get it and now that the day was finally here I was sooooo happy. I work at Target so the day it came out I was able to buy it. I remember the minute I was free from my shift running to the CD section and picking it up then skipping to the registers to pay for it for the next hour straight while I commuted home.

It's really hard for me to even compare the way the band used to be and the way it is now because in my opinion it's a completely different band now than it was to begin with. Hell even the transition from Origin to Fallen the band became completely different, the only difference is that they weren't really known by many back then so it really didn't make a difference to hardly anyone. Since Fallen the band has become a world wide phenomena in a matter of speaking and so naturally when The Open Door released and it became public that their sound had changed thing surrounding the band became a bit of a controversy. Then when John and Rocky were supposedly fired or quit or whatever REALLY happened with that things surrounding the band became even more controversial.

My point here is that with all new members and so much happening in the band over the past few years there's no way in hell that it could ever be the same as it used to be nor should anyone ever expect it to be the same. In my opinion an amazing band is one that can go through all this shit and still put out good music and I believe that Evanescence has done this so therefore I still love them just the way I always have.
