I had no problem with them using a tape. The thing is a lot of people think that Amy's lipsynching which is totally not true. Also, it's not like they could afford a 20+ piece orchestra every night.

IMO... Origin is very demo-like in comparison to Fallen, and the recording quality of the tracks is inconsistent. It screams pro tools. From a musical standpoint, there are some very good songs, and also very good ideas for songs which could have been developed better. It doesn't have the 'band' feel of Fallen, and there are several parts throughout that needed to be redone. All of that said, I really dig it though. I like the complimenting male vocal parts with Amy.

I think you're right. That may be why Origin appeals to me. A person that has only heard Fallen might describe Ev as a rock band that uses strings, electronics, etc. as icing on the cake. Origin is more of a casserole of instruments and styles, a hearty stew.

Now I see why I'm talking like this--it's lunchtime.

Brad Caviness of Big Wig Enterprises told me that they don't own the rights anymore. So I'm going to check up on whether Wind-Up owns the rights or the band itself has bought the rights (meaning that Amy's statement that it's ok to download the old songs still stands as valid permission to download without threat of legal action a.k.a. lawsuits against the band's numerous fans)

People, relax about the file sharing a litle. Amy said herself in an interview "don't pay for Origin, download it." She is the queen so do what she said. There are various places to download Origin tracks as well as the Evanescence EP and Sound Asleep so go for it and enjoy.

Anyhow - Origin is a great album. Fallen is a Great Album. The Demos are possibly better than Fallen or Origin. To really appreciate the sum of there music you NEED to listen to them as almost a soundtrack to Amy and Ben's life together (Which I think we all know was much more than they are willing to admit to. Nor should they, it's not our business). This is what I did and I highly suggest you all try it. I made a compilation of All the songs from the start of Evanescence up to the release of Fallen. I put the tracks in order by release date ( Best as I can tell ) starting with Exodus and Understanding, and ending with Farther Away. I must say that it is one f***ing magical and powerful ride of emotions. It is emotionaly exhausting to listen to. It is by far THE BEST compilation I have listened to in my 31 years on this planet. That says alot since I was there for the peak of Goth music. The early works of Evanescence remind me of the raw feel that The Cure had on ther earlier albums like Faith. It's as if the music is the master and they are mere salves to it on their early work. As they aged and grew more experienced Ben and Amy took more control over the music, as heared in Origin. Then they had complete control over the music and pushed it as hard as they could in the demos 2001-2002. IE....Farther Away and Before the Dawn which have the emotional kick of a mule (Mules kick really hard). The raw emotion is just........well I can't explain it. I just love everything they have written. Amy has a knack for writing what everyone feels but can't explain. And Ben just burns it into you brain with his riffs & hooks. AMAZING!!
