i know this is going to sound weird.. but i just heard all of origin, and i gotta say, i think origin is a much darker and gritty album than fallen.. at the same time, fallen is still dark but a lot more textured with little sounds (the sos morse code in the background all the way through my immortal is cool.. gotta listen for it though)

what album do you prefer out of the 2?
personally atm im actually prefering origin to fallen :| both are great though..

that reminds me when i saw ev live in melbourne they played one of the out-takes from fallen i had heard and i love that song (the one with the line "a cheat, a whore" or something to that extend) was wondering why that didnt make the album?!

It depends what mood I'm in. Instrumentally, Ben did a really REALLY good job on Origin with guitars. On Fallen it seems like he plays the same note over and over until the chorus. o_O But yes. I like a lot of the song writing more on Origin too. I suppose I'd say Origin. *nods* o_o

The code... You're not talking about the thing that's mentioned in the faq on the official site are you? It says that a synthesizer made some sounds when a program was loaded or something like that, and they thought it sounded cool so they kept it.

I like Origin better than Fallen. Definitely. It's like the production of Fallen is so... perfect. I dunno. Origin sounds more interesting to my ears, at least. But Fallen is a great album, too. Of course.

I personally prefer Origin to Fallen.... Problem with Fallen is that while there are some really, really good tracks on it (e.g. Hello, Going Under, Tourniquet, Taking Over Me), there are also some which I listen to and just think 'Meh, it's okay I guess, nothing special' (e.g. Everybody's Fool, Whisper, Bring Me To Life), but there aren't any tracks like that on Origin. With Origin, I like every single track. And quite honestly, while one of my favourite Ev tracks is the Origin version of 'Imaginary', the Fallen versions is just kinda lame. It seems to me that when it came to Fallen, Ev went off and did their thing, then handed it over to the record label and it got messed around with. It's like, Fallen seems to be more produced, more... I dunno, 'edited' I guess. With Origin it's just Evanescence, pure and simple. Not trying to sell tons of copys, not trying to get record-breaking sales figures, not trying to be played on the radio 24/7, just the music as they do it and that's it. Then with Fallen, it's much more like the record label has screwed around with the tracks to try and make them appeal more to the masses. Don't get me wrong, I like Fallen, it's a very good album, but once you've heard Origin it seems kinda.... 'fake' almost. Fallen doesn't have the same emotion as Origin had you know? Most of Fallen is a mix of nu-metal and goth rock... whereas most of Origin is... well, I don't know what it is really, I've never heard anything else quite like it.

Origin was unique, it had it's own feel, it's own sound, and it just worked, there was nothing wrong with it. Fallen hasn't got it's own unique sound, there are some pretty dull, lifeless tracks on it, and it just doesn't work overall. Fallen is a good album, no doubt about it, it's better then anything any other band could put out. But Origin is even better.

Yes, I like both albums a lot. I like certain songs better from each, but still LOVE both. ie. I love the origin version of Imaginary, but still like the Fallen version.... Both rock. But you are right, Origin does sound different in a good way.

i don't know, i love both...
but maybe i'd go with fallen, origin is a great demo but fallen is more complete
maybe tomorrow i'll change my opinion, it really depends on my mood
