Yea...also with Florida/Florida State and a few other rivalries. I should have specified the crowd interaction. At USC/Clem some of the crowd actually left the stands like European soccer match. Kinda crazy to see so many people get pissed off over a sport. I played soccer for 13 years, basketball for 5, and tennis for 3 and I never was affected enough by it to get that pissed. It's just a sport...

The host of the morning show that I intern at made a very good point.

It's the violent culture that we live in today that is the macrocosm of this small event.

Things like the turkey incident in Ronkonkoma, Long Island where teenagers threw a turkey through some poor lady's windshield (and she may never fully recover from it).

Other brawls in sports as you mentioned...my boss uses the bullpen incident at Fenway Park with Jeff Nelson and Karim Garcia from a year ago.

It builds and builds and it just exploded that night.

I'd like to add Jeff Brown to the list of people who's asses I'd like to kick. He's the one who threw the cup of alcohol (which he wasn't supposed to drink because he was on probation) onto Ron Artest.

Artest jumps into the stands and nails the wrong guy.

Damn. I was really, really disappointed when I saw that brawl.

Kinda depressing.

Did anyone see Artest's interview on the "Today" show? He totally dodged that quesiton as to what he thinks is appropriate punishment for his actions.

Plus, he says he's coming out with his own R&B cd about peace and love.

Not exactly the brightest lightbulb on the planet.

Ron Artest totally blows my theory of an Intelligent Designer.

I think that somebody here at Clemson still has that USC helmet

fake edit: oh, wait, Yusef Kelly threw it into the good seats so the guy gave it back.
Here it is:

But yeah, IMHO the nba wasn't harsh enough on Jermaine O'neil. He ran across the court and punched a guy in the face who posed no physical threat to him, even if he was on the court. That, and if I was david stern, I would have booted Steven Jackson for the year as well. The nba has really become a 'thug league' lately, and if they want to change their image, they're going to have to do more to crack down people being asshats.

i have to disagree with the whole nba being a 'thug league'...although i do understand what you're tryna say. you gotta understand, most of these guys came from the hood. ron artest came from queensbridge (thas right around my way, and it ain't the prettiest neighborhood) so i guess some of 'em take the street mentality with 'em on the court. i don't think that's right, but i'm not takin away from artest's abilities to play basketball. i think the whole thing was bad, both the players AND the fans havta take responsibility. that joint was nuts though. and as for ball players makin albums, umm i heard pretty much all of 'em and most of 'em suck. can't blame 'em for tryin though, i don't think they're tryna sell records. i think they're just doin what they like.

peace.

That's because he simply doesn't care.

He simply doesn't care.

And for the money he gets paid, I'll care. He blew 4+ million dollars away.

I'd be even MORE pissed if that happened, then getting kicked out of a sport for a year.
