indiana here. The cup had coffee in it. Artest got suspended for the WHOLE season. And, ya know, we all make mistakes. And I don't watch the NBA, I watch the news, and college BasketBall.

Artest himself said it was beer. Go figure.

Still, no excuse. If he feels unsafe in an arena, he should tell the officials and the officials and security should handle it. He's an idiot for taking it into his own hands, and furthermore, a common street thug.

yeah, I watched the news again y'day, while the board was getting a makeover, and I was gonna fix it, but, well YOU know. Anyway, I think it was all planned. Artest had asked for time off to promote his cd about a week ago. Larry gave him like 3 days, and that game was his first back. Well, now he has plenty of time off. Coincidence? I think not. I bet there is a lot of money floating around about now to the players and fans involved. Plus, Artest really seems very blase about it, like he could care less. I say SET UP.

"Let's just move on. Buy my CD!!!" What an idiot. I kept thinking, his publicist must be hiding in cave somewhere. What a disaster.

What I really liked was when the Players Union President came and said "Well I think you can see Ron's not very articulate." Understatement of the year!

Artest attacked the wrong fan. The guy who threw the cup was on ESPN last night and pointed himself out in the video. He was the guy with the white hat and a blue jersey. The guy that Artest attacked, a future millionare, didn't do anything.

I seriously doubt that he would have set this up, considering the amount of money that he's going to lose in lawsuits.

Jason Voorhees is on a distinguished road
I heard about this, and I definately agree with the suspension that Artest got. True, fans aren't supposed to throw things at the athletes but at the same time, the athletes themselves are supposed to remain in control at all times, no matter what happens. I remember awhile back during a hockey game, I can't remember who was playing but I think it was the Leafs/Oilers in Edmonton, some fan who was sitting behind the Leafs bench poured beer on the coach's head, which resulted in Domi attempting to go over the glass and after the fan. In both cases, the fan caused it, but the players should have remained in control. The hockey situation wasn't quite as bad as the NBA one, but it shows that this stuff has been happening for awhile, and it happens in all sports. I think something similar to the Leafs/Oilers incident happened during a Flames/Oilers game also.

that is one thing to consider, but I think the lawsuits are a ruse, to make everyone think that it was not a set up. Things are just too convenient. I mean, he was on the news, promoting his disc, all that the day after the suspension. I guess we will all see if it ever goes to court, but I am not holding my breath.

As an athlete in any league, you are paid well enough to handle such abuse.

No amount of money is worth losing a job like that where you get to play a sport that you love and that you're good at and you get paid a shit load of money to do it.

I know Artest loves the game, but seems to me like he is making a BIG deal outta this whole producer thing, almost as if that is where he wanted to be anyway. Pacers had 8 players total last night, and they KICKED ASS, so in way, I wonder if maybe they knew, and are moving on and showing they can still win without him (and the other players, as it JUST SO HAPPENS Artest is getting all the publicity).
