Rage Against the Machine.

I'm not a huge fan, mainly because of the political aspect of their lyrics and the whole "heavy rap" side of this band, but I really, really do have a lot of respect for them. What they have to say about America (The "Machine") and it's politics are quite true.

Did anybody ever hear this story?

The Stock Exchange has only been shut down three times in American History... 9/11, Pearl Harbour (I'm almost positive that was it) and when Rage set up a "surprise" concert in New York City at 11 o clock in the morning. Vans just pulled up, and they all got out and started setting up a stage right in the middle of downtown... It would take a lot to do that. I would have loved to see it. Very talented and wise people the Rage guys are.

Yeah, Rage was awesome. I didn't care about their political agenda, but their music was rad. Shame Zack split and the rest of the band is now playing boringass lullabies in Audioslave.

They had some great stuff in the 90's. I didnt care for the political side much either.

But now they just tell me I'm an idiot for having a different political stance than them in their music. It's a bit much for my taste.

Yeah. That's what I meant. Whether you love or hate them, no one will ever be like them.

And yeah. I fucking HATE Audioslave. I love Soundgarden though. AS is just a compilation of really good artists in one really shitty band.

I really love Rage Against the Machine. I don't mind if music is political, as long as it's good.

And I really love Tom Morello's guitar, especially on songs like Killing in the Name.

I don't particularly like Audioslave either, mainly because Tom Morello seems way too subdued on the guitar.

very good band, their songs were very good, the songs: "Sleep Now in the Fire", "Calm Like to Bomb" is very good and demonstrates the power of the band

i enjoy a lot of their older stuff... and i do enjoy their lyrics... because your right, they are true... but yeah thats just my site...

Rage got me into music. Not just metaln (well, rock at least), but music. A friend played me a song when I was about 13 and I didnt look back, it was their cover of "The Ghost of Tom Joad". I love the self titled album, and The Battle of LA rules also, though Im not such a fan of Evil Empire, and I hated Renegades (Even though it has The Ghost......and Renegades of Funk, which I bought the album for).

I would have loved to have seen them, too bad they split up. And Im not really an audioslave fan, I was soooo disapointed when I bought that album.

Yeah. Sleep Now in the Fire is an amazing song. My friend has a MASSIVE (like seriously, it's huge) poster for that song.

Rage is probably one of the most popular rock bands when it comes to an urban heavy market like this. It wasn't just that they had a heavy rap influence, it was because they weren't afraid to speak their mind.

If anything, I like that they were political because whether you agreed with them or not, it got you to think about what they were talking about. Even though they only lasted about 8 years, their influence will last a lot longer than that.
