Jessica Simpson considers adoption
Singer plans to adopt ‘before I have my own kids’
Updated: 9:07 a.m. ET April 3, 2006

LOS ANGELES - (AP) Jessica Simpson has babies on the brain.

The 25-year-old singer filed for divorce from Nick Lachey last December but her publicist says Simpson is looking at adoption.

“Nothing has been finalized yet” as to when and how Simpson will adopt, her publicist, Rob Shuter, told The Associated Press on Tuesday. But he added, “It is true that she’s exploring options.”

Shuter said Simpson and her family have anonymously contributed funds to a smattering of Mexican orphanages for several years now. The singer started visiting the orphanages with a church group at age 11.

In the interview, Simpson cited a certain high-profile mother as an influence.

“I think Angelina Jolie has done amazing, amazing things, and the international adoption rate just since her has skyrocketed,” she said. “It’s unbelievable.”

Simpson is best known for starring in the MTV reality show “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica” with Lachey, who gained fame as a member of the boy band 98 Degrees.

STONE ADVOCATES ORAL SEX

Actress SHARON STONE is adamant teenagers should be prepared to engage in oral sex, if it saves from them the dangers of unprotected penetrative sex. The BASIC INSTINCT spends much of her time away from Hollywood working as an activist raising AIDS awareness, and she always carries condoms with her to hand out in a bid to increase safe sex levels. She explains, "I was in the store the other day and I watched a young girl trying on clothes, showing her abdomen. "Her mother was trying to talk to her about not being inappropriately luring. I said, 'Gee that would look much nicer with a camisole under.' "Her mother walked away, and I said to the girl, 'I'd like to give you a two-minute conversation about sex.' "Young people talk to me about what to do if they're being pressed for sex? I tell them (what I believe): oral sex is a hundred times safer than vaginal or anal sex. "If you're in a situation where you cannot get out of sex, offer a blow job. I'm not embarrassed to tell them."

Congratulation Sharon, that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

I am sure this girl's mother will be happy to know this is the advice Sharon Stone offered her daughter. "but Mom, Sharon Stone said I should do it".

Part of Engine Falls Off FedEx Plane
(04/05/06 - OTWELL, AK) - A FedEx plane that took off from Memphis, Tennessee, yesterday landed with less than it had on takeoff.

Officials say a six-foot section of the number-three engine fell off minutes into a flight to Seattle. It dropped into a farmer's field near Otwell, Arkansas, about 70 miles from the airport.
The pilots notified air traffic controllers of the in-flight emergency and the jet landed safely back in Memphis.

Arkansas state police say they were notified by a caller who began, "You're not going to believe this."

Ok,so it came from the Weekly world news...

It's still funny even if it's ridiculous:

BUSH THRILLED TO BE READING AT 6TH GRADE LEVEL AND IT'S ABOUT TIME!
Friday March 31, 2006

By DAVID TOLSEY

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A White House spokesperson announced President Bush is reading successfully at the sixth grade level.

"The President is absolutely thrilled at his latest achievement," said Edward Thurut. "And he wants the American people to know just how far he's progressed the past year. He's been officially tested by the D.C. school board, and the results arrived at Pennsylvania Avenue earlier this morning. The President wishes to thank all those who believed in him, especially First Lady Laura, the lovely librarian who won his heart so many years ago."

While Bush supporters were celebrating the good news, several leading Democrats used the moment to paint an entirely different picture of George W. Bush.

Said DNC Deputy Chairman Clarence Slaughtery: "This man is the President of the U.S., and he's just now reading at a sixth grade level? What were the American people thinking reelecting him?

"You know, I'll even go so far as to suggest that Dick Cheney takes the reading tests for him. After all, this is the guy who runs the White House anyway."

While many educators across the U.S. have applauded the President's persistence in trying to improve his reading comprehension, there's a growing concern over his mathematical aptitude as well.

"It's clear the President's mathematical comprehension is also on par with a junior high school child," said Constance Souron, William and Terri University's Dean of Education. "That's ironic, considering it's our children who will be left dealing with this outlandish budget deficit he created."

Fear the bunny

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060407...NlYwNzc3JlbA--

Quote:
LONDON (AFP) - In a tale reminiscent of the last Wallace and Gromit movie, furious villagers in northeast England have hired armed guards to protect their beloved communal vegetable gardens from a suspected monster rabbit.

Leeks, Japanese onions, parsnips and spring carrots have all been ripped up and devoured by the mystery were-rabbit -- prompting the 12 allotment holders in Felton, north of Newcastle, to hire two marksmen with air rifles and orders to shoot to kill.

"It is a massive thing. It is a monster. The first time I saw it, I said: 'What the hell is that?'" the Northumberland Gazette newspaper quoted local resident Jeff Smith, 63, as saying on its website (www.northumberlandtoday.co.uk).

He claims to have seen the black and brown rabbit -- with one ear bigger than the other -- about two months ago, and at least three fellow allotment holders say they have seen it as well.

"I have seen it and it is bigger than a normal rabbit. It's eating all our crops and we grow the best stuff here," said retired miner George Brown, 76, quoted by the domestic Press Association news agency.

Smith could not be reached for comment Friday, but his mother told AFP that the hare-raising story is true -- and no less an authority than the British Rabbit Council said it was credible.

"Certain breeds do grow very big, like the Continental Giant" which can be 66 centimetres (26 inches) in length or more, a spokesman for the Nottinghamshire-based council, which represent rabbit breeders, told AFP.

In the last hit movie featuring Wallace and his dog Gromit, the two cartoon characters battled a monster rabbit that was cutting a swathe of destruction through locals' prize vegetable plots.
