Reminder: Evboard is not a file sharing Community!

Lately there has been a large amount of file sharing going on in the Other Bands forum. Please remember that sharing of copyrighted material is not permitted on Evboard. There also seems to be misconception about what is copyrighted. Just because material is not available at your local music store does not mean it is not copyrighted. Acoustic performances, television appearances, videos, karaoke versions or songs and the like are generally copyrighted and are just as much a legal problem for Evboard as trading full commercially available studio albums. Unless the file you are linking to is hosted at a reputable site (i.e. a band's web page, MTV, Yahoo's Launch service, etc) do yourself (and the board) a favor and don't post it. It you're hosting something off of yousendit, rapidshare, megaupload, etc, odds are you shouldn't be posting a link to it here either. The idea of the Other Bands forum is for it to be a place where Ev fans can get together and talk about other bands they like not to be a forum for everyone to be trading copyrighted material thus putting the board in jeopardy got getting nasty letters from the RIAA.


P.S. I think the RIAA and current copyright laws suck big hairy balls as much as the next person. But personal opinion doesn't override what is legal and what is not.
