Rep Abuse - EvBoard

Ok here is the deal gang. Because of a few folks I now have to spend the next few hours removing duplicate rep points from quite a few members accounts. Obviously there is a bug in the system, but I can't do anything about it. More than likely its something in the version of vbulletin we are running. I will put in a request to have it updated in hopes that this will fix the problem but....

Till that happens, those of you who knowingly abuse the system will suffer just as I have to suffer by removing the rep. Just so you know, there is no mass removal for rep. So I have to go line by line and remove them.

So here is the deal, this is my one and only warning to you all. I will be spending some time today fixing the rep to what it was. If we catch you abusing the rep system again, those offenders will have every single bit of reputation removed from their account. So that means all the rep points you've worked so hard to get will be removed entirely from you.

If this does not sway you all to abide by the rules then I'll just simply turn the reputation off entirely. You have been warned.

Just to add to this. I don't know if the bug is in the rep system or vbplaza but regardless its still abuse and those of you doing it know its an exploit. If you buy options in the plaza to give you alittle extra rep power that is fine, but going foward you had all better use common sense and know when you've crossed the line and have taken things to far.

I did it, the once. I thought it would be cute, fun, and that everyone could, and would, appreciate a good laugh... and that we needed a little excitement around here.

APPARENTLY I was wrong.

My bad.

But yeah it was all me. If it makes your job easier you can just punish me by taking away all of my rep and letting everyone else keep all the rep I gave them... since I did pretty much rep a good portion of all the active members here. Heh.

it wasn't just you and I am not naming names. No one is getting punished for it, I just wanted everyone to know that I if I have to spend two hours of my day doing this again there will be repercussions for such actions. I honestly can appreciate you looking for ways to breathe a little life and fun into the place Jane but this wasn't the best way to do it. Especially since Rep around here means a lot to most people. Next time find a way to have some fun that doesn't cause me extra work LOL.

I didn't realize the reps would be removed. Thought it'd be a good laugh and we'd move on. Believe me, I wouldn't have done it if I knew you guys would get your panties in a twist, lol.
