I'm not sure if it's the same here, but on another forum I go on - you can't just give loads of good rep to those that are your friends, because it asks you to spread some more good rep around before you can do so. I found that out when I went to rep a post and found out I'd already repped that person.

So I was wondering, wouldn't it be the same here? If so, I have no problem with that because it prevents people from constantly giving their friends good rep.

I have a feeling though, that neg rep has more of an affect than good rep and that some people on here are more likely to throw around neg rep than good. And so I'm glad it's been left to mods and admins, because now we'll have an idea of those that really deserve it.

I disagree. I would say people are more prone to positive rep. And it beats the trillion noobish posts that only say IAW^.

*sighs* I guess I'll never understand having an unbalanced reputation system (which is what the lack of negative rep does). There will always be cases with abuse (since there will always be someone that abuses whatever privilege and leeway is given to them) that the mods can take care of, but if we are so childish that we cannot handle an internet neg rep and it has to be taken down, we shouldn't have any part of the system up at all.

PaleIsBeautiful, maybe some other options are these:

If you can't give someone a negative reputation for, let's say, the way they type, you can try to ignore it and move on, or tell them if it's really bugging you. If they're reasonable enough they might change it, if not, again, move on. They won't get positive reputation either for the way they type. And if any of the mods would see it, and they're bugged by it, they can hand out a negative rep.

All the time I see this thread up and I first read it as "Reputation chaos" or "Reputation is chaos" -_-;;

^Good point! I agree, we don't need neg rep and I can see why its been taken away, because before Chirs came along rneg rep was flying round everywhere just because people didn't agree with each other. I think it was the people who were giving neg rep just cause they disagreed with someone who were childish.
But anyway, its up to Chirs. I personally think for now he's made the right move so really this thread ought to be closed to prevent any arguments. But again its up to Chris
