Resident Evil 4-PS2

Here I was hoping the little ol' cube would be getting a great non-nintendo exclusive and Capcom just goes and decides to do this grrrrr

Quote:
Resident Evil 4 is on its way to the PlayStation 2, Capcom announced today. The once GameCube-exclusive fourth installment in the popular survival horror series will hit Sony's console at the end of next year in Japan, North America, and Europe.
"We will strive for developing Resident Evil 4 to feature of each characteristic of the console platforms," reads the announcement from Capcom's Japanese headquarters. The English isn't clear, but it suggests that we'll notice differences between the GameCube version -- due out in North America January 11 -- and its subsequent PS2 counterpart. Whether the PS2 version will feature any improvements on its predecessor is an open question, since the long wait could be the result of many possible factors.

The rest of the announcement suggests that overseas sales were a factor in the decision to move Resident Evil 4 to a new platform. "Recently, the videogame industry has shown steady growth focusing around the U.S. as well as Europe...Under these environments, we have come to this conclusion after deliberating over customers' needs, market environments, and various opinions from stakeholders such as shareholders or investors."

The fourth Resident Evil was unveiled in 2001 alongside four other games planned as GameCube exclusives. Since then, only one of the five -- P.N.03 -- has remained exclusive to Nintendo's console worldwide. Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7 are on their way to PlayStation 2 in some territories, while Dead Phoenix was cancelled in 2003.

Resident Evil would be so much better if it wasn't so damn hard to move.

The new Resident Evil looks like it has some really great new features.
Although the story looks like it's screwing the whole thing up hugely. It's set in a village that seems to be stuck about 200 hundred years in the past. What happened to the high tech labs? No more experimental bio-weapons?

How did leon get 200 years back in time :S

They also ditched zombies

But I am glad it is coming to the PS2, because I hate the gamecube pads and memory cards.

Heh I didn't mean that literally. I saw a trailer for it.

The whole setting looks like a crappy village from the past.
But there were zombies in it. Some had guns, even chainsaws.

It didn't look very good to me...
Only the fact that Leon has lots of cool new moves. And one scene involving him speeding across a lake in a boat while being attacked by a huge crocodile.

It's coming to PS2?? I thought it was Gamecube only?

Ah that would explain why they can handle weapons so well

I'm taking a complete guess, but in the trailer, Leon was holding a picture of a girl, who I think is Sherry. And last we heard of her, Wesker's people took her captive. Does the story involve Leon looking for her?

Logically, it makes sense.

You think Umbrella would STILL be alive after destroying and contaminating acres of mountain, forest, and demolishing a city, military island, cargo ship, and parts of Antarctica? Nah.
