We've already talked about Obama's admitted drug abuse, we've talked about his *wife's* hate speech and anti-white views... now we have Obama's mentor and minister bellowing all kinds of hatred, and we're supposed to turn a blind eye to it because "it would make history to have a black president!"... but at what cost?

It really cracks me up, too, becuase Mr. Wright is completely unapologetic about his views. I mean, the whole exchange boils down to:

Wright: white man = devil
Media: "Obama supporter calls the white man the devil"
Obama: No, no, no, you heard him wrong.. his comments were taken out of context... oh, and it's time for Change!
Democratic party: That's right... he couldn't have meant that! Look! We're running a black guy and a woman for President! That's cool!
Wright: No, you all heard me right the first time, white man = devil.
Obama/Dems: D'oh! *egg on face* Ummm... we don't know him, he's not with us.

The more I read, the more I honestly think that an Obama administration would be one of the most divisive and destructive in American history. This guy has no plan or platform except "change!", which is meaningless to me. There are a lot of things that would constitute "change"; for example throwing out the constitution would be a big change. Doesn't mean we should do it. Tell me something concrete other than "it's time for change." Then look at the company he keeps - biggots and racists. And if he does get elected, and starts pushing his afro-centric agenda to "level the playing field", which has historically meant doling out hand-outs to certain minorities, who do you think is going to foot the bill for these entitlement programs? Stand by for massive tax increases. The simple fact is, you *are* judged by the company you keep, and Obama hasn't been keeping very good company. But by all means, let's pretend otherwise because it would be nifty to have a black president.

It's a load of crap is what it is. I think we should demand more from a potential president. This guy shouldn't even be in the running, and if he weren't a well-spoken black man, he wouldn't be.
its funny because I completely 100% agree with 1/2 of what you said, and completely disagree with the other 1/2.

Obama has not listed what he plans to change, you are correct. All I hear is "Change, change, change," - well that's great, but what and how is what I would like to know.

I don't think it's "Do we vote just because the guy is black." Maybe i am just missing something here. But I would like to think his race has very little to do with it, and in fact, is working against him. because rather than seeing him as as just a candidate, people see him as a "black candidate.".

I am just amazed at the fact the Dems seem completely unable to bring a qualified and lovable candidate to the table. I am also appalled at H Clinton's attempts to sabotage Obama - thus sabotaging the entire Democratic party.

I really think this whole Rev Wright thing has been blown out of proportion, which is exactly why I haven't paid any attention to it. It's dirty, and downright wrong. I attended church, and my former pastor was accused of child molestation. Does that mean I associate with pedophiles and should be judged because of it?

the only thing I don't like about Obama, which is the same thing I don't like about any of the candidates, is the fact that they have no actual plans. They make empty promises for a better tomorrow with no actual plan as to how tomorrow is going to get better.

I don't care who comes into office. They will all be the same. This entire election reminds me of Lois Griffin and Mayor West Debating.

Actually I definetely disagree... this race has been ALL about breaking with tradition. The only reason Hillary and Obama have gotten as far as they have is because they're minorities... a black man and a woman. Liberals are in love with both of those ideas, and you can see it. They're not even bashful about it. They didn't put forward the candidates with actual positions, like Gebhardt or Edwards or Dean... instead, since day one its been the Hilary/Obama show with all of the other candidates, Democratic, Republican and other shoved aside and largely ignored.

As for the connection between Obama and Wright, if you happened to go to a church where the priest was found to be a pedophile, then that would not make you one by extension. However, if you openly and publicly embraced and endorsed that priest, spouted off about how wonderful a person he was, called him your inspiration and your mentor, talked about your many connections to him and how involved he is in your life and your family's life... well, maybe then folks would start to wonder. Obama and Wright do not have a casual, incidental connection... Wright is a major influence in Obama's life, by his own admission. Wright was part of Obama's campaign and inner circle until he went batshit crazy and made a media spectacle out of himself.

What's scary is that Mr. Wright's seperatist and afro-elite mentality is very strongly echoed in the writings of Obama's wife, leading me to believe this is not a casual connection at all, rather this is the type of circle that Obama moves in. As an American who believes strongly in the constitution and rule of law, I take exception any time a specific race, gender or ideology is placed in a position of inherent superiority over all others. 42 USC 21(I)sec.1981 guarantees equal rights for all, not guaranteed supremacy of any race over another based on your perception of history. Equal is equal, but Mr. Wright and those who espouse his beliefs are not willing to settle for mere equality, but seek to create a protected and entitled class based solely upon race. Obama's close ties to Wright, and the attitudes shown by his wife make me question his motives and his ability to govern fairly and impartially.

I agree almost 100% with Silver Wing (but the disagreement isn't worth mentioning because I couldn't argue it properly); this entire election has just concerned me to such a point lately that I've seriously considered whether or not I should even vote. It seems like there are no good choices and I'm so upset, because I've prided myself on being involved and voting in all my local elections, and now that I've got my first chance to participate in a presidential election I've found that I honestly just don't even want to be a part of electing Obama or McCain to the presidency. I mean, what kind of a choice is that?

I'm just really depressed over how badly this whole thing has gone.

Perhaps what I should have said was - "i would like to think we can look past Obama's race and take him at face value instead of seeing him as 'the black candidate."

Did Wright make a media spectacle about himself? Or did someone against Obama say "hey, look at that guy over there. He's friends with Obama and has said some things that we can use against Obama." I now that NOW he is using the media for his own advantage, but how did it all start?

I feel like someone brought Wright up to use against Obama - and it is working, based on all the things Silver Wing said. And, didn't Obama openly address Wright and his teachings and make a big speach about racism in America?

I have friends I disagree with. My father, an inspiration and mentor in my life, may be one of the most closed minded people I know. I don't agree with him on alot of things, but I am not about to publicly denouce him. My fiance Nick has also been known to say some things I outright disagree with when it comes to race.

So, I don't think who you associate with necessarily translates into who you are. Then again, I am not about to run for a public office and have my entire life on display. But I do think all of this is a smear campaign against Obama - who I don't really like anyway. And sadly, I think it was all done by Hillary - who wants a shot in 2012 since she already realizes she has no chance, and thanks to her neither does Obama.

it doesn't matter. Before the Reverend Wright came along Obama had no shot at being president anyway. And sadly, it is because he is a black man and there is no way certain people will allow that to happen.

The problem is his race, though.

Would he still be running if he were white? Would he have made it this far? Would anyone have cared?

Same goes for Hillary, if she were a white upper class male, would she have made it this far? Although I believe she'd have a little bit sturdier ground to stand on since she has more political experience than Obama, imo.

My problem is I can't even get to his race because I don't like HIM, lol.

Farther, because she wouldn't have had to put up with all the "Clinton-hatred" and "women-are-weak" attacks.

Well, Obama finally left his church.

How could you be sad? How was this a hard decision? I just don't GET this guy. He's silly.

...and who "resigns" from a church? Don't most folks just stop going and find a new church? If he got a bad dinner at his favorite restaraunt, would he send them a resignation letter too?

100% publicity stunt. Proof once more that Obama is about as genuine as an Amway salesman.
