You speak as though that's only specific to you. Haha. We've all waste our youth. Learning to solve a Rubik's cube is as much of a waste as learning to take one apart. I wasted a good two-three days I should've spent doing homework learning to solve that thing. It's absolutely useless... but I couldn't stop myself.

Like right now... browswing a message board. I should be doing so many more productive things right now, lol. That being said... everyone should try to solve the Rubik's cube... NOW! :P

Good point. That also explains my fascination here too...

By the way...have you solved it yet?!?

Can you imagine how expensive that would be? Otherwise, it's a really neat idea, since you only need to get one face right. They should've done it out of a whole bunch of mini Rubik's cubes (like the 3x3 ones that are only an inch and a half big). Those are much cheaper. That's a really cool idea though.

Oh my God! I found my handycam today! I'll make a video of myself scrambling and then solving my Rubik's cube and post it in here. In case anyone cares. I'm also not very fast... I can do it in a little over two minutes at my longest, so if you want to watch, be prepared to sit for a few minutes. :P

(I keep my cube by my computer to solve it in between page loads. I hate my internet connection.)

312348 is on a distinguished road
For some strange reason, these cubes have been popular at my school almost all year long. This one girl (whom I've kinda felt somewhat of an attraction toward) was playing with one, then all of a sudden, they were everywhere. I've not only seen 3x3, but also 5x5 cubes, and I've seen some that are in the shape of either a triangle or some other strange shapes, rather than a cube.

The cube version of the Rubik's line ranges from a pocket-sized 2x2x2 cube up to a 7x7x7 cube (the largest ever actually manufactured; however, you typically will not see anything larger than a 5x5x5... the most popular cubes are the 3x3x3, 4x4x4, and the 5x5x5).

2x2x2 Pocket Cube:

3x3x3 Rubik's Cube:

4x4x4 Rubik's Revenge:

5x5x5 Professor's Cube:

Pyraminx:

Megaminx:

Not sure of the name (but it's almost identical to the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube):

Diamond Cube:

Magic Ball:

I think those were all the ones created off of the Rubik's line, but obviously there are other lines of puzzles similar now in little variations off of all these.
