It's nice to see a thread like this here. It's very, very popular in our country right now. You don't know how much. xD
I haven't solved a whole cube ever, but I'm pretty proud of myself I can solve a face at a time. LOL. ![]() |

I've re-read the steps about 20 times (ok, exaggeration, but I've went over them quite a few times) and now I get them better, but my question is: if I solve the yellow x the right way, will the white x still be there by the time I'm done? Theoretically it should, but I'm just checking.
EDIT/UPDATE:[..] EDIT #2: Scratch that, I have X's everywhere now, with 2 matching middle pieces on one of the faces, and just one middle piece on another 3. Hah. Wtf.

In solving the yellow X, all of your other Xes will automatically be solved. Quote:
Meh, I just tried to explain the next two steps and give notation, but I know it'll just give you guys a headache to try and figure out, lol. I'll definitely be back when I can post a video. NOTE: My steps on the other page don't explain HOW to accomplish solving the cube. Those are just steps to explain what you're going to wind up doing: You need to do this, then this, then that, but I don't explain HOW to accomplish one step to the next. I'll be posting a step-by-step video about how to solve it using the coners-method. After that, if anyone wants me to explain the layer method, I can do that too.

I'll try to post a few pictures to show you what I mean:
Top, front left and front right faces: ![]() Bottom, back left and back right faces: ![]() In the case of my crappy cube, the orange face is underneath the white one. As opposed to white-yellow, like most cubes have. And I can't exactly do this "systematically" and get it every time, but I've played around with it to know what I have to do. I just do my moves logically and on the spot instead of remembering them exactly, since my aim isn't speedcubing right now. I just want to solve this thing at least once. :P

I have gone over it a few times as well, and I have actually given
up. ![]() ![]() After the fourth time, I have just gotten to the point of frustration that I given up, and I would rather just go the cheating way. ![]()

Nyx, I know what you mean now. That's how I was with the cube initially too (I would just do it on sight and then go back over and over what I just did to figure out what the move was). I have every confidence that you'll be able to pick this up. I can't speed cube at all, but after I show you how to do it, you should be able to solve it in under five minutes EASY. The next step from there is to solve the white and orange (in your case) faces. You need to put in the middle cubes that are missing into those two faces. Always hold your cube with either the white or the orange face up. What you want to do is look for a middle cube with white or orange on it in that middle layer (the layer sandwiched between the white face and orange face). Try to figure out how to get the piece you want to move from the middle layer up into the white or orange face where it belongs. Considering you can do things on sight, I reckon you'll be able to do this. Basically the only trick to it is that you don't want to mess up a face once you get pieces in. If you find a piece that's supposed to go up in the white face, you need to also make sure that there is an incorrect piece in the orange face directly below the spot you want to put the white middle piece in. It's kind of like a dummy piece so you don't screw up what you have. I hope that helps you at least think of what to do next. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to, because it sounds like you're having a pretty easy time with it like I did. I'll make the video next weekend when all my finals are done with. Right now I'm about in tears over the last three papers I have to write tonight. And then I get to write another one tomorrow, finish my art projects, and then study for my finals... ::Cries::

I'll try to put together the white and orange faces after I come home from school. Thanks for the help.
![]() And good luck with the finals, sounds like more than a few handfuls right now. <3 EDIT: I solved the two faces and squeed like a dork when I did because the orange face took a bit of work to get right after solving the white one, haha. Progress shots 'cause I'm a nerd: ![]() ![]() ![]() EDIt #2: See, this is why I shouldn't screw with the cube when I don't already have pointers regarding how to go ahead. I messed the former layout up, quite badly. But I'm slowly getting back at it... -.-

Ugh you dork, you did it wrong! Haha, actually, it was my fault for not specifying. But I knew you'd be able to do it. When you're putting a middle piece in, it also has to MATCH the color side it'll be on. For example, in your second pic where the orange side is face up, see how the right face is the blue face? But the middle piece you put in isn't the orange/blue, it's the orange/red.
In other words... if you're trying to solve your white face, you want to look for a white middle piece in that middle layer. Let's say there's a white middle piece there and it's a white/blue piece. Therefore, you want to put the white/blue middle piece on the white face, but with the blue side of it on the blue face. Get it? When you do this correctly you should EVERYTHING solved EXCEPT the four middle cubes in the middle layer (sandwiched between your white and orange layers), lol. So all you have to do is pop out those wrong white/orange middle pieces and re-do that step properly, then you'll be set for the last TWO steps! (Which are easy as all pie.)

oooh, now I get it. haha. *noob*
The red and blue bordering the white are in their correct positions now. Off to do the rest... mmm... hard to do without messing up the orange face on the bottom :/
