Is it possible to have a successful relationship without having sex?

This is a very loaded question and I feel it's more on a case by case basis.

No sex until what point? Forever? Until marriage?

I feel like if you mean no sex ever, not even after marriage, that could definately put a strain on the relationship and may lead to problems. It is pretty much expected for a married couple to have sex, if not to have children then just because that is how the marriage is consummated. (traditionally speaking that is)

However, if you mean before marriage - I think it is possible. A relationship is based on much more than sex and if it is solely based on sex, it isn't much of a relationship, IMO. At some point sex may/will become an issue but if the relationship is sturdy enough, a common ground can be found and an agreement made that satisfies both parties.

I could probably say a lot on the topic though I'm not sure where I'm going with my post at the moment and I'd like to see what others type as well.

Yeah, I meant until marriage, not forever. Or at least for the relationship to be a few years old.

Yes it can be perfectly possible. There are many couples that don't have sex until marriage or that wait some years.

I think that sex is something that comes naturally. I mean, at one point or another the couple will feel good and they will feel that it is time to have sex so they will just go ahead and do it. I think that you can't plan it.

It would be entirely possible in this case. At first I thought you had meant abstaining from sex for life or something... O.o; (and attempting to have a relationship).

But yes, absolutely. Relationships do not require sex in order to be successful; sex can help to make a relationship more successful or help to make a relationship feel complete, but it's not necessary to build a good relationship at all.

Would it be too bold of me to ask why you were curious?

No but on a serious note... I think that in order for it to work you will have to be upfront with your potential bf about it. Your best bet is to either find someone who will respect that or find someone who believes in the same thing as you. They're out there somewhere!! i promise

LOL We didn't consummate our marriage the night of our wedding...I was to tired and went to bed!

Me too!! I was so beat tired after my wedding. After i cried my eyes out over something stupid I just slept. The wedding day is to stressful. We made up for it on the honey moon though

The thing about it though was that it was our honey moon..we went straight from the wedding to the honey moon suit at the double tree hotel in mission valley San Diego
