Falling...

I've been running on this path
for so long,
but now I collapse
in the sodden grass,
and catch the breath
that always seems to escape me...
to evade me like my shadow,
that was swallowed up in the sunset.

Dirt scuffs my knees
as I touch the ground,
yet I don't care...
the soil beneath me
proves much cleaner than myself.
There I stay,
feeling, listening
to the silence of my exhausted heart -
too weary to even scream anymore.

But somewhere,
I find the essence of a fallen tree...
it once had caught and stored some sunlight
in its leaves.
This I draw upon,
a reflected brightness
to see beyond the darkness of my soul,
right into the neglected oasis
of the light I couldn't see before.

And I lie down,
breathing steadily,
not caring if my dress is soaked by the dew...
I let myself cry,
until every last tear is wrung out of me,
each drop falling into the ground underneath -
to grow hope, strength and wonder
amidst all of the pain,
and break through to the beauty beneath.

wow awesome imagery there in falling..... i absolutely love it. for some reasons it pulled me into it, one of my favorites of yours definately. you have so much talent as a writer, you really do.

Reflections

I want to see the sky
always floating
across your eyes...

-night stars twinkling so brightly
within your heart...
white clouds delicately brushed
across an endless
blue canvas...
and evening's sunset reflecting
such a fire
burning inside your soul-

Promise me
you'll never shut your eyes...
forever shine the light within
that is so eternal, so very true.
My fire burnt out long ago...
but to watch the brightness
that filters through your soul...
it will lead me home.

I want to see the sky
always captured
in your eyes...

...for it will bounce back
into mine...
and we each will find
our own.
