They should keep it because there is still a band there. They are all Evanescence. The only thing is that almost none of the original band members are there anymore right? Boyd, Rocky, Ben, and I forgot who else all left.

But either way, it should stay Evanescence because they all worked together on the album. She's not like Avril Lavigne or Ashlee Simpson that have a "band" but they are not really part of it and get switched out a lot.

The boys don't get enough credit as it is and this would make it even worse. Yes, without Amy the band would die but that doesn't mean that they don't contribute. Sure, Ben is gone, but the band is growing and thriving. I see no reason to change the name, personally I love the name "Evanescence". If Amy feels the need to change the name she will do so on her own time and judgement. It's not our place to decide nor tell the band how to handle their image.

Also, not to presume that I know what goes on inside Amy's head, but to me, it seems like she still thinks of the band as Evanescence, just grown up. If she's still comfortable with the name (like she appears to be), then why would she want to change it?

Evanescence went from "I feel so alone please someone help me" to "fuck this I'm taking care of myself from now on even though the world is crap." People do that too, so Evanescence is just like the emotional and personal progression of a person. It always was, even when Ben and David were still there. In some cultures, people change their names as they grow older and aquire more skills, honor, and experience, but in others, they keep their birth name. It's the same concept.

If you look carefully at the band's history, Amy helped form it, pick the name, has written most of the songs from a very personal perspective, and has ALWAYS been the frontwoman. Other band members have been coming in and out, each offering their own influence. Ben was the most noticeable of these, but Amy has always been the constant and has put the most of herself into it. It's always been mostly her band, but with other people rotating in and out with varying degrees of influence. So, if it was Evanescence back then with Amy and the old members, it should still be Evanescence now with Amy and the newer members.
