I don't think that's necessary. People could start doing things against the rules, and then erase the post, thus the mods wouldn't know about it . ..

Mods can see deleted posts, also taking away the ability to delete a post does not stop the person from going back and editing it later. In fact the current set up being able to edit but not delete is actually worse for being able to tell what happened in the past if a post has been deleted at least a mod can read what it used to say, if it's edited then no one can.
