Honestly....it isn't that the mods are too mean and that people get relentlessly attacked for maybe not the best reasons....I don't think the mods should be any nicer than they are right now. It's the elitism that bothers me. I come back here after not having posted in a little while, find my reputation has turned negative, open up my user CP and get a full blast of 'stfu when a mod tells you to' to the face. All I had said in my last post was my reasoning behind adding an off-topic statement at the end of the post before that....before that I got negative rep from someone who got mad at me because I posted about how I didn't think the topic in question was a big issue (it wasn't in the Debate forum, for good measure). When I think what would happen if a mod or someone of high status shared an unpopular opinion....well, nothing would happen. I have never seen it happen and I never will. You can get away with saying anything if you are well-liked. I know it's because mods have the power to delete posts, take away certain priviledges or even ban you, so you have to be careful what kind of impression you make. But I think you should make the kind of responses to posts that you would anyone else. There's this nonexistent equality on the boards that I wish would surface.
When I click 'Submit Reply,' I never, ever intend to stir up trouble. And I'm sure that most people who get attacked didn't intend to stir up trouble. But it just happens extremely easily. I came in here wanting to build a good reputation and interact civilly with others, just like everyone else, after all. Then, I make a post that seems so harmless in my eyes, but I quickly see how badly and personally people can take it if the post is not of majority opinion.
Sometimes it feels like elementary school all over again....does elementary ever bring back painful memories. >_<
I don't mean for this post to sound like a completely whiny or babyish rant. I have put a lot of thought into not making it sound that way. I clicked on a random thread, and I thought since people were sharing their thoughts on the board both positive and negative here, I decided to get stuff off my chest.

Guess I should do the proper thing and introduce myself, been a member of certain forums for quite some time, so its a scary prospect to being at Newbie level again.

Hopefully there will be no newbie behaviour from me though, cause that is the most annoying thing one can find on any given forum.

Sadly only found this forum YESTERDAY.. and it looks like I would spend the next year browsing threads if I want to read them all.

And looking at the average age around here... geeze I am getting old.
