My virus scanning software found a few "corrupt" files that are part of IRC, I just wanted to check to see if they were really corrupt or not before I deleted them.So, does anyone have any ideas?

exodus.IRC/system/dll/moo/moo.dll
moo.dll

Both have a threat name of Backdoor.IRC.Zcrew if that helps

hmmmm
cant see how a virus scanning prog will tell you if files are corrupt but anyway, the file is safe.

That file from the REALLY OLD mIRC package does come up on virus scanner. My recommendation: download a more recent version of mIRC or X-Chat (or use the integrated java chat applet if you must).

Tracie was kind enough to buy a one month subscription to the parachat hosted chat service. We've got a link to it for evboarders who can't get into IRC, or for whatever reason, don't want to go into IRC.

I tried to get into IRC but it said unable to connect....

Do I need something special to be able to get on?

I forgot to mention one of the main reasons why we're trying out the parachat service is that it's not IRC and therefore may be accessed by users behind restrictive firewalls (schools, corporations, etc.).

To be perfectly honest, it's like a 'chat for dummies'. This isn't to cast aspersions on anyone personally, it's just that IRC isn't known for being user-friendly.

Plus, there are some nifty (goofy) features that aren't in IRC. Avatars and sounds being two; so if you do fire up the parachat in the lecture hall or board room, make sure you have you're computer volume turned down so you aren't caught off guard by an elephant or grizzly bear.

There's also an option to turn the sounds off too if you don't want them. Some of them are rather humorous though.

The parachat thing works fine for me most of the time, it just goes laggy every now and then. I don't think it's my internet, since I have a pretty fast connection. Could it be their servers or something?
