I just switch on Flashmute when I don't want to hear the sounds, as the chat is part of the browser, it mutes it too. It's a little faster than going into the chat options to switch it off as well.

Nyx, it lags for me too. I thought it was just my slow internet. Sadly, I do have slow internet. *sigh*
I noticed it was lagging extremely bad when my computer was running an antivirus scan. I was forced to cancel the scan because it kept freezing the chat. Maybe you're using too many programs at once, or one that uses a lot of CPU?

This chat is really nifty. Good job. The sounds are hilarious. Shame not many people are on right now though. It's a little more uplifiting on here than IRC

Hey I would just like to let a couple things be known.

IRC isn't for the faint of heart for the most part. If you are easily offended I would suggest using the parachat instead.

Also if you are new here and are attempting to either find something or have some kind of question answered, it might be best if you took a minute and searched. Rather than go into IRC chat with the assumption you'll find out what you want. You more than likely will be flamed for doing something like that.

I'm not telling anyone what to do but just offering up some free advice. We are very welcoming in the chat channel, although there are times we can be merciless in there.

We do have times where the same begging help is repeatedly asked even though we have given an answer befitting the question. So do yourself a favor, and use the search and please read the board faq

K, so I am not able to sign onto irc via my schools connection, nor was i able to sign onto trillian (i was told by someone that it was the same port/proxy or something of the sort that file sharing programs use/irc is a notorious old school p2p) so I was wondering if there was some program or internet application that would allow me to sign on (irc) . I downloaded something called html tunnel, but i'm not 100% sure how to use it and I don't even know that it'll work.

Any suggestions?

If this helps any, I deleted trillian and AIM allows me to connect in school.

I clicked the link and got two chat rooms, I think, a IRC one and a Java. I clicked the IRC one, then something came up on the screen that I didn't know what it meant, so I pressed no, then there's the chat room but it couldn't connect or something...dunno whats up with that, maybe I pressed the wrong chat or something...

It should be mentioned that if you click on the Chat Now! link at the top of the board, the parachat option does NOT work at the moment.

EDIT: Actually, none of the links provided worked for me.
