This was just given to me about 5 mins ago. And I haven't tried since getting kicked 4 hrs ago.

I'll try sitting out a week. That's what ultimately let me back in after the first sweep got me... Unless... you all can somehow get me off the 'bad' list.

Like before, I put in a request to have you removed from the akill list, but nobody was responding immediately. Hopefully they will take care of that for you.

So now I'm getting this "unable to resolve server" pop up everytime I try to get in. Can anybody help me with that?

Try typing /quit (to disconnect). Then type /server atomicblast.relic.net 6667 and see if that connects. If it does, type /join #evboard and you should be all set

Questions Concerning IRC

Are there any rules, guidelines, explanations regarding IRC other than what's posted in FAQ? I'm just curious because there's a lot that goes on that I just don't understand... and some of the IRC members aren't always fond of the idea of having to explain things to me.

I've been feeling incredibly lost and frustrated at trying to understand what's being said, and why things happen. I feel like there should be some kind of information thing to read before going into IRC so you don't feel like you're completely airheaded. I'd prefer not to have to ask questions constantly, and I'm also under the impression that IRC regulars don't want to waste their time answering those questions.

::Feeling hopelessly out of the loop::

In addition, I had a question pertaining to connecting to IRC. I was wondering if there was a way for you to design a "nick" so that when you log directly onto IRC it automatically displays that nickname so that I don't always have to type the /nick agentpudge... /msg NickServ IDENTIFY password... /join #evboard -- it's just so annoying to have to constantly do that (especially since I get disconnected so often).

Le help would be appreciated!

End.

There isn't much else to explain besides what is in the FAQ or this thread.
Things are usually not explained because most people generally grasp whatever is going on after they've been in there for awhile.

This goes for you and anyone else feeling the same: If I'm in the channel, feel free to PM (private message) me at any time to ask questions. It wasn't too long ago when I was am IRC n00b (wait, I still am an IRC n00b!). You initiate a PM by typing this in your chat client and pressing enter:
/query Dhamma
<Enter>
[a new window or tab or screen, depending on chat client, will open up and then you can start asking questions]

Like message boards, it's a good policy to lurk for awhile to get a handle on things. For instance, in #evboard, it's generally appreciated when people wait a few seconds/minutes before they launch into their soliloquy about Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring just to see if some other line of conversation is going on at the moment that isn't exactly Stravinsky-ish.

How will you ever learn if you don't ask questions? Not all IRC regulars are grumpy. Just a select few.

The answer to that question depends on which client you are using to connect. If you PM me in IRC, I'll try to help you out.

Plus, if you join IRC, you might just get to see a side of me that you don't see here. IS IT WORTH IT?!?!

Mmm, thanks Dhamma for the helpful tips. I'd also been curious about how to PM people while on IRC. (It's still difficult with my connection, but at least I have a small handful of people to ask questions.)

It's been difficult... there have been a few times when I had wanted to sit back and get an idea of what it was like, but it's difficult, because the IRC members like to play their fun and games... ::sighs::

Thank you though... for the PM info. That'll be useful. I'll keep a lookout for those of you on IRC that can help me with the /nick issue.

End.
