Correct me if I'm not interpreting you correctly.

I'm in there plenty, and I know what goes on. I don't know what events gave you your opinion on the place so I'll not attempt to comment on that. The last log I personally have of you being in the channel was from October 29th, 2004. I can't see anything indicating any strife during that visit, but I'm not there 100% of the time so I don't know what, if anything, might have happened thereafter. It is a simple fact that new people come in on a semi-frequent basis and don't have any problems though.

I'm not talking about what happened to me in there since I'm never there. More like what happened to my friend that just wanted to chat in there but everyone got on her back from the start. Nice way to treat people, but anyways the people that treat the others like crap are the same people that do it on the forum but they are "protected" so they get away with everything.

I'll have to stand behind RedRooster in those assertions. Sometimes people are attacked for little reason... and harshly. It's not always fun and games, and to be honest, people shouldn't have to have a thick skin to be able to join IRC and chat with their fellow EvBoarders. Sometimes it is even difficult to try and lurk and get the proper feel for the IRC, because those lurkers are easy prey, and sometimes they are torn to pieces.

From what I've seen of the IRC, it has it's good moments... but the bad are absolutely foul and retched (and occur far too often in my opinion). I really don't think it's a good idea for anyone to be outwardly hateful of anyone else whether it's in IRC or elsewhere... actions like those are capable of bringing heaps of negativity into EvBoard, and no one wants that here.

There's nothing wrong with trying to be a bit friendly and letting up every now and then. Especially on people that are new to IRC... and people that you don't know very well. Don't be so harsh. However, I've never been to IRC more than a handful of times, and I realize that the rules that apply on EvBoard, do not necessarily apply in IRC. I think that either way, there should be a certain level of respect shown to each other. I don't think that's very much to ask, personally.

I think that's the basic premise of IRC politics. Obviously, the people who have been on Evboard for a long time have formed relationships with one another and are generally higher up on the food chain. You have to realize that when you first get into IRCing- I am definately still an IRC lurker/noob- you have to lay low for a while to test the water.

It's like coming to a new school and immeadiately going to sit with the popular kids- of course they are going to tell you to fuck off. My point is that you have to earn the respect to be a regular, included member of IRC. Evboard is in no way a happy bunny little kid nice to everyone forum. It's a food chain, and you have to fight your way to the top. We can't delude ourselves into thinking that everyone is included and that everyone is nice to everyone else. Sink or swim, fight your way to the top.
