SOUL EMBRACED, the Little Rock, Arkansas-based band featuring EVANESCENCE drummer William "Rocky" Gray, has apparently regrouped and is planning on releasing new material soon. They have also added two new members in the form of Jack Wiese (guitar) and Jeff Bowie (bass). A new band photo can be seen on their MySpace page.

Originally a side project of drummer David Sroczynski and William "Rocky" Gray from SHREDDED CORPSE, SOUL EMBRACED dissolved after creating one song for a metal compilation. Rocky would reform the band with fellow LIVING SACRIFICE member and Christian metal legend Lance Garvin (drums) and his brother in-law Chad Moore (vocals). When Rocky and Lance weren't busy with LIVING SACRIFICE, they would hammer away at making material for their death metal side project. The band released an EP (1999's "The Fleshless" EP), and three albums (2000's "For The Incomplete", 2002's "This Is My Blood", and 2003's "Immune") over a five-year span. SOUL EMBRACED's debut album, "For the Incomplete", was re-released in 2003 by the independent label Blood and Ink Records. Since 2003, Rocky has been busy with EVANESCENCE as their drummer, and Chad is serving as Rocky's drum tech.

Seriously, Soul Embraced is my second favorite band, only following Living Sacrifice, which was mentioned above. Last I heard they are shopping around their new album to labels or whatever to distribute it. They have already played a couple times this summer and should be playing again soon in the Little Rock area. I hope to see their next performance if my cashflow allows.

If you've never heard any of their stuff go to the myspace page and prepare to be blown away.

It takes me a long time to get some of their CDs on eBay but finally got two of them.

Aaaaand I got my third one yesterday, during SE concert held at The Attic in Hot Springs. The re-released "For the Incomplete" mentioned above.

I can't believe it yet, I was there... front row... headbanging and sweating like a pig!

I was at the SE show in Hot Springs this weekend too. Not just my first SE show, but my first show of any kind really (I live a sheltered life :P ). They have incredible energy live (they should think about doing a dvd about getting back together and making the new album and record a live show for it!! Zao's dvd sold well I think). It was one of the awesomest things I've ever seen. My neck hurts from all that extreme headbanging (the longest and hardest I've ever done), but the pain is well worth it! I must see them again! The show was intense! The guys were headbanging and they looked like they were having a blast on stage. And out of the four bands playing, SE by far got the crowd moving the most.

My gf took all the pics, I was too busy headbanging.

It was sooo good to see Rocky on guitar, he was great. I was a Rocky and SE fan before Ev, so I think he looks much more natural on guitar. And I never saw him smile as much at an Ev show as he did at the SE show. He looked right at home and was obviously loving every minute of it.

Its good to have SE back!!

I agree, Rocky looks SO happy, he must have needed a change from Evanescence. I am glad he can still do what he loves best!!

I think his band, absolutely Kicks Ass, I freaking love it!!
I would love to see a live show, I really hope they one day, come to a city near me!!!
