I like the christmas single. I got it for my birthday from my girlfriend and I'm madly in love with it. Tarja has done some other solo stuff/ cooperation before, for example with Beto Vasquez or the Noche Escandinavia.
She is a classical opera singer, so it's clear to me she wants to do something different than only Nightwish. I read somewhere that she'll stay with NW until the end, so no need to fear. I don't know the song with Martin Kesici yet, and so far I've heard positive and negative opinions, but I'll just have to wait and see. |

NIGHTWISH frontwoman Tarja Turunen will release a very-limited edition CD containing the recordings in Buenos Aires of the Concert of Noche Escandinava II (feturing Turunen) from April 2004. The album will be available exclusively through Turunen's web site, www.tarjaturunen.com, and the only CD pressing that will exist will be based on fans' pre-orders. Everyone that orders the CD prior to October 1 will receive a numbered digipack version of the album. More information is available at this location.
As previously reported, Turunen was recently presented with a gold record for her first solo single, "Yhden Enkelin Unelma" ("One Angel's Dream"), which has shifted more than 5,000 copies in her native Finland (gold certification for albums is 15,000 copies). The single, which was released last December, entered the Finnish single chart at position No. 2 and ended up moving into the No. 1 slot later in the month. Now I HAVE to convince my mom to let me order off of Tarja's site. She won't let me order off of Nightwish's site because of customs. But I need this cd! Edit: For anyone in the US who is curious about the cost of customs, it's about $10. But when I plugged everything into ups.com, I had to assume some things. Like it would come form Helsinki, Finland, weight of the cd, etc.

I know I'm probably going to get flamed for saying this, but I couldn't stand Tarja in Nightwish. Not because of her voice, but because it didn't suit the music at all. The male vocals were very well suited, and honestly, the only songs I could listen to were Wish I Had An Angel and Phantom of the Opera. Her voice is too pure and angelic in a falsetto setting to be in that kind of band. imho.
Now her solo stuff on the other hand, I love. I'm listening to Tired of Being Alone right now, and am in love. I think this suits her so much better. I'm interested to see what else she comes out with, and honestly, I think Nightwish should just make the male vocals solo instead of trying to find someone to replace Tarja.

An interview Tarja did yesterday with the owner of Tarja Turunen Fan is now up at the site. It's very...interesting.
And there's new merch at Tarja's official shop. |

"Leaving You For Me" is a song by Martin Kesici where just her vocals were featured. It's my favourite vocalisation from her I would say; I love how she hits notes in it, it's much different from how smooth her voice was in Nightwish.
"Tired of Being Alone" is a song by Schiller, though she did co-write the music. |
