12 Stones - Lead singer Paul McCoy is featured in the Grammy winning song for Best Hard Rock Performance in Bring Me to Life. Wind-up Artists who released second album Potter's Field in August 2004.

50 Cent (real name: Curtis Jackson) - Interrupted Evanescence’s victory speech at the 2004 Grammy Awards by walking and posing on the stage as they won Best New Artist. Amy Lee calls what 50 Cent did a “Zoolander moment”. Not an Evanescence member. It should be noted that Ben Moody and Amy Lee played “PIMP” during their Reality Radio show on Z100. It should also be noted that they performed a date together after the MTV Video Music Awards in Morrison, Colorado.

A

After Midnight - Unauthorized DVD scheduled for release fall 2004. The DVD is rumored to have outdated interviews with Amy and Ben.

Aguilera, Christina - Multiplatinum artist and a guilty pleasure for Amy Lee. Amy Lee does not appreciate her image, but on occasion sings along to Stripped to warm up for concerts.

Alone - A track rumored to have been recorded for the Resident Evil 2 soundtrack turned out to be a hoax report. According to the hoax report, Avril Lavigne, Dido, and Evanescence were to have songs on the soundtrack and either Dido or Evanescence would have the lead single for the soundtrack. The soundtrack features Lacuna Coil, Killswitch Engage and The Used.

Anything For You

Anywhere

Anywhere But Home - The title of the official Evanescence DVD. To be released worldwide on November 22nd and in the US on November 23rd. The DVD is supposed to feature footage from Paris and Ev's show at the Zenith on May 25, 2004.

From Billboard.com
Quote:
Evanescence fans will have something to celebrate on Nov. 23, when Wind-Up unveils the CD/DVD "Anywhere But Home." The release chronicles a May 25 show at Paris' Le Zenith, with the DVD portion directed by Hamish Hamilton (Madonna, U2). Audio versions of the live tracks are featured on the accompanying CD, as is the previously unreleased studio recording of "Missing."

"Anywhere But Home" blends such hits as "Bring Me To Life," "My Immortal" and "Going Under" with lesser-known tracks such as "My Last Breath" and "Imaginary" from Evanescence's smash 2003 debut, "Fallen," plus a cover of Korn's "Thoughtless."

The DVD portion is loaded with extra content, including videos for "My Immortal," "Going Under," "Bring Me To Life" and "Everybody's Fool," an hour's worth of behind-the-scenes footage and surprises hidden within the navigation menus.
Appearances - There have been plenty of appearances of Ev-related music on many different television shows and some movies.

Here is a list of most of their appearances:

Bring Me to Life - 2003 WWE No Way Out, Without A Trace (CBS), CSI:Miami (CBS), Tru Calling trailers (FOX), Mitsubishi commercial, Triple Crown Horse Racing, Daredevil
My Immortal - Friends promos leading up to the series finale, WWE Tribute to Fallen Superstars 2003, Daredevil, Smallville (WB)

Awards - Evanescence is no stranger to winning. Here is a semi complete list of every award Evanescence has won to date (includes nominations)

Away From Me

B

Balsamo, Terry - Full-time Evanescence member as of December 2003. Previously a member of Cold and Limp Bizkit. Credited with writing songs on Cold’s Year of the Spider.

Before the Dawn

Big Dismal - Collaborated with Amy Lee on Missing You on Big Dismal’s debut album “Believe”. Missing You is Track #6 on Believe and had not been released as a single.

Big Wig Enterprises - Mostly a label featuring punk bands, Evanescence’s label before they signed to Wind-up Records.

Bleed

Boyd Esquire III, William James - The bass guitarist of Evanescence. Became full time member in June 2003. Known for writing a part of October and So Close. Spent stints with local Little Rock punk bands such as the Visitors and Lucky Father Brown. Also happens to be a champion beer bottle opener.

Breathe - One of two collaborations between David Hodges and Amy Lee. Breathe is actually a very well known inspirational song. Recorded in 2000 for The Summit Church’s Summit Worship CD now out of print.

Breathe No More

Bring Me to Life

Broken - Collaboration between Seether and lead singer Amy Lee. Amy Lee co-produced the string arrangement with Double G. Broken was written years before Shaun Morgan met Amy Lee. When Seether was making Disclaimer in 2002, the band wanted Amy Lee to collaborate before the world ever knew about Evanescence. The label balked at the idea until two years later when the Punisher’s soundtrack was compiled.

The video for the song is a live performance video filmed in an abandoned area of the Lancaster Desert in California. The video was filmed in mid-March 2004. The director was Nigel Dick, who is also known for directing the MTV Video Music Award winner “Hero”. There used to be a crystal meth lab there, before it blew up twice. They filmed the video on the scene as it was. This is the second single off of the Punisher soundtrack (Drowning Pool’s Step Up was the first) and the first single off of Seether’s remixed Disclaimer II.

Commercial Release: July 20, 2004

C

Call Me When You're Sober

Catherine - Recorded, but unreleased to the public. One of the only joint writing efforts ever put together by Amy Lee, Ben Moody, and David Hodges. Originally intended to be put on Origin and performed live a few known times in Little Rock, the song never saw the light of day.

Cartoon Network Song, The - See the thread for more info. Amy Lee recorded the song live marking the first time Amy played with an acoustic guitar.

Chapen, Chad - According to a Ben Moody interview in 1998, he co-produced what became the first Evanescence EP.

Childish Intentions - OMG, they suck! In all honesty it was one of the first names that the band decided to choose before they looked in a dictionary. They have never recorded anything under this name or their other name, Stricken.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe - Lead singer Amy Lee had been asked to work on the second soundtrack released by the movie, however, had been turned down when asked to change the style of music on the record. Her work had been replaced with the work that Alanis Morrissette did for the album.

Cold - Former band of current Evanescence guitarist Terry Balsamo. Amy Lee formally apologized to the band and their fans on the Cold message board and the Evboard in January after making comments referring to Scooter Ward’s health and the band’s future. The band (along with Revis, Cauterize, and Finger Eleven) toured with Evanescence during the Nintendo Fusion Tour.

Cologne, Live in - A live set that the commercial singles for My Immortal and Everybody’s Fool have been used for.

DiCosmo, Francisco - Played the bass guitar on Fallen.

Dolphins Cry, The - Cover of the Live song from 1999's The Distance to Here album. Performed at a Little Rock show on February 3rd, 2001. There is a minute and a half videoclip that features a part of the song being played. The importance of the clip is that it is the first publically displayed videoclip to ever feature a performance with David Hodges in it.

E

Efanar - One of the most memorable posters on the Evboard ever. The highlight of his Evboard stay was the "How Big Are Your Boobs?" Thread. Won the admiration of all of the best looking ladies on the Evboard. He lurks occasionally, but will be missed by all who remembers his posts.

End Has Come, The - Track provided by former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody on the Punisher Soundtrack. Ben Moody plays guitar, Lance Garvin, former drummer of Living Sacrifice plays the drums, and Jason Miller (lead singer of Godhead) and Jason “Gong” Jones (lead singer of Drowning Pool) provide the vocals.

Equipment - Evanescence uses various types of instruments and such live.

Ben used Jackson guitars. John LeCompt uses Esp. Ltd. guitars. Terry uses Ibanez guitars. John, Ben, and Terrry use Line 6 guitar amps. In addition, Wah pedals have a heavy presence on most of Fallen's songs.

Eternal

Evanescence -
1. Disappearance like a vapor.
2. The name that Amy and Ben decided to call themselves after looking in a dictionary and finding the original definition of evanescence. Evanescence has become a household name.
3. The name of the EP of the very first collection of Evanescence songs officially released in 1998. Features early versions of Where Will You Go, Imaginary, and Understanding. Also features the first song ever written for the band, Solitude. 100 copies of the EP were sold and sold out after an early performance by the band.
4. The name of a lesser-known album by a band called Scorn. Many confuse the Scorn album, with Evanescence’s works. Among the works of Scorn: Silver Rain Fell, Exodus, Night Tide and Falling.

Evboard, The - You're on it. There have been a couple of versions of the board that date back as early as 1999. Now features about 14,000 members. In July 2003, this site featured just a little over 3,500.

Fallen - Amy Lee is quoted to have said, “We've all fallen, but at the same time we're not broken. There is the hint that we are going to get up again.” This is one of the reasons that Fallen is called what it is. Ben Moody in an interview said that Fallen was made to let people know that they aren’t alone when they feel alone or feel pain. Fallen has sold well over 12 million copies worldwide and about 5 and a half million in the US alone. The album debuted at #7 and has not fallen below #39 to date on the Billboard Album Chart. The album stayed in the top 10 for 43 non-consecutive weeks. Released March 4th, 2003. The CD was re-released in January 2004 with the band version of My Immortal. Making of Fallen, The - Filmed by Amy Lee and Ben Moody, an unreleased 50+ minute video on how David, Amy, Ben, and Josh Freese dealt with recording Fallen in Los Angeles, California. They work on many songs including Missing, Imaginary, Farther Away, Going Under, Bring Me to Life Everybody's Fool and Imaginary, which Josh Freese plays drums throughout.

Malice in Wonderland Dress, The - Infamous dress designed by Amy Lee featuring the words "I Will End You", "Psycho", "Rude", and "Bitch". The inspiration for the dress came from Evanescence's first New York performance at Webster Hall on April 17th, 2003. The first time it was worn was at Evanescence's second New York appearance at Webster Hall on September 16th, 2003.

Ben Moody describes the incident that occured in a Digital Noise interview with Patrick Douglas:

Quote:

Ben: Yeah. It is difficult because, you know, most of those guys just think with their dicks and not with their brains and that’s because that’s all they got to think with. It’s just like K-Rock New York, this one asshole came out to introduce us at Webster Hall and basically said he was going to masturbate eight times to Amy’s picture later that night. It’s basically like, you know, that’s great, I hope you have a good time, pray to God I don’t meet you in an alley because what you’re doing is not only disrespecting Amy, but disrespecting me and my band. We find it difficult, but at the same time those people are beneath us. Just fucking lowlifes. It’s all they are. If that’s all you get out of a band is how hot the lead singer is, then get a fucking life. Cause we got way more to offer than Amy’s face, let me tell you.
The dress, according to Lee, is supposed to represent someone innocent who's been tainted.

Matthews, Pete - Producer discovered Evanescence during the recordings of the 2001-2002 demos and shopped the songs to many labels including Wind-up who eventually signed the band.

McCoy, Paul
- See 12 Stones

Memphis, Tennessee - Ardent Studios in Memphis was the location of the Origin recordings. The recordings of the 2001-2002 demos took place in Los Angeles, California.

Millenium Choir, The - Choir who did the background vocals on Fallen songs such as Whisper.

Mindrage - John LeCompt’s band from 1999-2001. An album and an EP were released during that time.

Missing

Moody, Ben Jr. - The former lead guitarist/co-founder of Evanescence. Responsible for discovering Amy Lee’s voice. Wrote many of the most popular Evanescence songs including My Immortal. His father is a prominent photographer in the Little Rock area. Left the band in October 2003 after creative differences. Currently has worked or is working on many different projects. The End Has Come on the Punisher Soundtrack, Nobody’s Home on Avril Lavigne’s Under My Skin, Kelly Clarkson’s next album, the Blank Theory’s next album (supposedly had been working with Dave Fortman), and a project with David Hodges that’s rumored to be on the new Passion of the Christ soundtrack featuring Wind-up artists. Ben Moody's favorite drink happens to be Dr. Pepper. Moody plans to release an album in the Summer of 2005.

Morning Madhouse at the Edge Interview, The - Amy spoke candidly about her (at the time) recent perks as a celebrity. It was at that interview where Amy performed an acapella performance of the Sir Mix A Lot classic Baby Got Back.

Morgan, Shaun - Lead singer of Seether and Amy Lee's ex-boyfriend.

Mourningside - Band that features 2 current members of Evanescence (drummer Rocky Gray and guitarist John LeCompt). Also features Jack Wiese on vocals, Jeff Bowie on bass and guitarist Devin Castle. My Immortal

My Last Breath

Mystary - The name of a promo EP released in January 2003 before Fallen was released in early March. Features the version of My Immortal originally intended to be on Fallen before Wind-up decided that the Origin version of My Immortal belongs on the album

Nightwish - Band formed by Tuomas Holopainen, Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen and Tarja Turinen in 1996. Band often mentioned in similar sounding bands to Evanescence. Their latest release is Once, which was released earlier this year.

The current lineup features: Tarja Turunen (vocals), Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards), Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen (guitar), Jukka Nevalainen (drums/percussion), and Marco Hietala (bass/vocals)

O-Board - See Official Evanescence Board, The

October

Official Evanescence Board, The - The unmoderated board that Wind-up made for Evanescence's website. Blown up in May 2003 after too many idiots flooded the board with constant questions about the band's religious affiliation.

Only Human, Only God - A track produced by David Hodges and Ben Moody originally intended for the Passion of the Christ soundtrack. Apparently, the project will never see the light of day even after 2 soundtracks for the movie had been released.

Open Door, The - Second official Evanescence album (some call it the third depending on definition of Origin as an album) due for release on October 3, 2006. First single released to radio will be called "Call Me When You're Sober". Album also features "Good Enough" and "Weight of the World".

Origin - 1. Album released on November 4th, 2000 in Little Rock. Many different Origins exist, but there’s only one true tracklisting

1) Origin
2) Whisper
3) Imaginary
4) My Immortal
5) Where Will You Go
6) Field of Innocence
7) Even in Death
8) Anywhere
9) Lies
10) Away From Me
11) Eternal

Only 2500 real copies were made. Origin sold out in February 2003. Real and fake copies are bought on EBay for upwards of $300. Amy Lee does not consider this an album, but rather a collection of demos that they "dressed up" to send to different major labels.
2. The first track of the album, features old film clips.

Orestes - A Perfect Circle Mer De Noms track (recorded in 2000). Revamped as an Evanescence acoustic cover. Rumor has it that Maynard James Keenan was impressed with the cover of this song. Recorded by a local (dev on the Evboard).

Outlaw, Matt - Plays drums on Solitude and So Close. Wrote So Close along with Ben Moody and Will Boyd.

P

Performances - There are many live performances since early 2003 that have had Evanescence as one of the top musical acts in the world. Among them: Rock in Rio, Rock Am Ring 2003 and 2004, Hard Rock Live, Two Tonight Show with Jay Leno performances, The Late Show with David Letterman, Pepsi Smash, the American Music Awards, the Muchmusic Video Music Awards, The Billboard Music Awards, and Live in Cologne.

Pinch Harmonic, The - The famous sound used in Bring Me to Life by guitarist Ben Moody. A guitar trick perfected by one of Moody's guitar idols Zakk Wylde.

Priest, The - Battled Efanar for Ben Moody's soul throughout 2003. Lost to Efanar when Efanar returned from the dead. He will be missed. Also see Efanar.

Princess Corpse Dress, The - Amy Lee designed the dress that she wore at the Grammies and H. Naoto, a well known Japanese designer, made the dress. The pink and black outfit also includes twigs dipped in metal. Victory never looked so good

Punisher Soundtrack, The - Released March 23rd, 2004. Features 19 tracks including Ben Moody's The End Has Come and the re-recorded version of Seether's Broken featuring Evanescence lead singer Amy Lee. The album has sold over 270,000 copies to date.

R

Resident Evil 2 Soundtrack, The - Album was to feature 1-2 projects from Ben Moody.

One was to feature punk-metal group Body Count according to Blabbermouth.net

The May 5th, 2004 article reads:
Quote:
BODY COUNT, the metal/punk band fronted by legendary rapper Ice T, are slated to contribute a new song to the upcoming "Resident Evil 2" soundtrack. The as-yet-untitled track will apparently be a collaboration between the group and a seemingly unlikely writing partner — former EVANESCENCE guitarist Ben Moody. "We're going to do a song on the new 'Resident Evil 2', and Ben Moody is going to co-produce the song with me," BODY COUNT guitarist Ernie C revealed in an interview with 411Mania.com. "He's going to write a song with BODY COUNT. It sounds weird, but it's a great hard rock record, so he's writing us on [the] 'Resident Evil' [soundtrack]. I met him, he's a really cool guy, he wants to work with us, so we're going to do 'Resident Evil', and that'll be the first song. And I know that's a big achievement — that'll be a big deal."

Shamy - Our version of Bennifer

Snow White - She is "the fairest of them all" and queen of all rodents. Has a fascination with squirrels. Reluctant to eat apples, Snow is still very much a healthy eater.

Spears, Britney - Multiplatinum artist and musical rival of Amy Lee. See Everybody's Fool.

So Close

Solitude

Soul Embraced - Band that both Rocky Gray and John LeCompt have performed for. Rocky Gray was a full-time guitarist and John LeCompt was a featured vocalist in one of their songs.

Sound Asleep - Name of the EP (also referred to as the Whisper EP) released in August 1999. Features an early version of Whisper and 2 versions of Understanding.

Stolzl, Philip - Has directed Evanescence videos for "Bring Me to Life", "Going Under", and "Everybody's Fool". His repertoire includes Madonna's "American Pie" and Garbage's "The World is Not Enough".

Stricken - See Childish Intentions

Surrender

Swart, Josh - Production manager and roadie for Evanescence.

Syd - Many people on the Evboard know her as a moderator, but only a select few actually know how instrumental she was in helping Evanescence. As a music director and disc jockey at the pop station in Little Rock (KLAL-FM), Syd heard Bring Me to Life in the summer of 2002 and saw hit potential well before many had even heard of the song.

Syd started playing the song on the station and by the start of the next year stations in many other formats (Alternative, Christian, Hot Adult Contemporary and other pop stations) followed suit.

Bring Me to Life, as mentioned in its entry, became the #1 pop song in the country in major part thanks to her.

She was also influential in getting Going Under and My Immortal added early for the station to support the local band who has now become a worldwide phenomenon. She was also a bassist for the Little Rock based band known as Dean Heathen.

T

Taking Over Me

Tait, Michael - Member of dc Talk and responsible for producing Evanescence's first EP.

The End

Thoughtless - Korn song originally recorded on 2002’s Untouchables that Evanescence started to cover in spring 2004.

ToB (The Other Ben; Tacos or Burritos) - Ninja Admin Extraordinare. You piss him off and you die.

Tourniquet

Trading Yesterday - Band that David Hodges formed after leaving Evanescence. The band released The Beauty and The Tragedy in mid-June 2004. Signed to Epic Records in the summer of 2004. Will release a mainstream album in February 2006 entitled More Than This with the first single to be One Day which is featured on the Stealth soundtrack. The album will be produced by Dave Fortman (who also produced Fallen). Band members include Mark Colbert at drums and Steven McMorran at bass. According to Hodges, Colbert was originally considered to become the full time drummer for Evanescence.

Tributes - Currently there are 5 tributes. One is the String Tribute, two others are made by the band Static Heaven, one made by jazz saxophonist Joey "G-Clef" Casavano, and one made by pianist Ark Sano. One of them is a completely acoustic record. The titles of the CD's are "Eclipse: A Piano Tribute to Evanescence", "The String Quartet Tribute to Evanescence", "Tribute to Evanescence", "G-Clef Tribute to Evanescence" and "Gothic Acoustic Tribute to Evanescence".

U

Unauthorized - Refers to any Evanescence memorabilia that is not given the OK from Wind-up to release. Examples of this include Maximum Evanescence and After Midnight.

Understanding

Underworld - Amy Lee is credited to have worked on the movie’s soundtrack (her name even appears on the credits). However, her voice had not been used in the soundtrack. According to a KNAC article, there were 4 songs that Amy worked on. The titles of three of them are "Now I Know", "Down in the Lab", "Death Dealer's Descent". She may have also worked on "Falling Through the Sky". All of those tracks made the album without her vocals.

Used, The - Utah-based emocore band. Released self-titled debut in June 2002.

Bert McCracken, lead singer, went on an offensive on Evanescence after they couldn't play the KROQ (Los Angeles) Weenie Roast in the summer of 2003 because of a Ben Moody illness. Evanescence pulled out of the Weenie Roast and the Used took Evanescence's place.

Within Temptation - Formed in 1996 with Robert Westerholt and Sharon den Adel. Band often brought up in conversations about bands similar to Evanescence. Last album released: The Silent Force in 2004.

Band lineup: Robert Westerholt (guitar), Sharon den Adel (singer), Jeroen van Veen (bass guitar), Martijn Spierenburg (keyboards), Stephen van Haestregt (drums) and Ruud Jolie (guitar).

Whisper

Y

You - Amy Lee's personal song dedicated to her family and friends. The pre-Fallen song that the band encourages fans not to download.

Ben Moody described the situation with the song on the Original Exodus Evanescence Board called the "We're not Goth" board when it was still running.
Quote:
Since Origin, he has taken the liberty of connecting himself with everything we've ever done. He even has gone to a studio that we recorded at (the owner of which was a friend of his) and made cd's of songs he was never supposed to have. One song in particular, was VERY private. He was FORBIDDEN to show it to anyone, since there was no way I could actually be sure I had every copy. COUNTLESS times people have commented on that song and how he showed it to them. When confronted, he just denies it or says that they heard it on accident or some bullshit. there's a very good chance some of you have it on your computer RIGHT NOW.
Talking about this song on evboard is the fastest way to become persona non grata.

Z

Zero - 1. Smashing Pumpkins song originally released on 1995’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness regularly covered by Evanescence ever since they started touring in early 2003.
2. The name of the cat that Amy Lee purchased. What? Evanescence can't have a mascot?
