Somebody has been asleep all of their life and has been searching for meaning and something to hold onto. They finally find it in somebody and long only to be with that person.... but their love is unrequited. BMTL has a desperate tone to it, which is why I think this. The lines, "now that I know what I'm without, you can't just leave me" feel like this girl has now had a breath of life and could never go back to the numb person that she used to be. She has to be with this person, but he doesn't love her back. And so she tells him that he can't leave her and asks him to bring her to life.

Finally, he sees that she needs him, but it's too late to help her. (("All of this time, I can't believe I couldn't see + Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me")) It's too late for both of them, and they both know that. And so a part of her dies but still begs to be brought to life.

It's hard to put it into words... but yeah.

Ah, yes, that's quite true, that's a really good interpretation, however, though the song as you rightly said, does have a desperate tone to it, I think the 'Bring Me To Life' chorus suggests there's still a glimmer of hope for the both of them.

My Immortal.
I have two interpretations about it.

First, it may be about a person whose close friend she has known for years has died. She's afraid of the future without the friend beside her. She's also very sad she misses her friend and the memories doesn't leave her alone. She wished that they would fade away but they don't.

Second, it may about an abandoned person. Her lover has left her but she still loves him. If he had to leave, she wished that he would just be leave without a trace behind. She still knows it's impossible. Both her love to him and pain of the loss are so strong that time can not erase them. She was happy with him and very sad and unhappy now when she's alone, the memories still in mind.

I can relate to the second interpretation because that's the way I feel to someone. Both my interpretations still are about someone living with the ghost of someone who was dear and now far away.

Well, Bring Me to Life always reminded me of a certain relationship in my past. Especially the lyrics:
now that i know what i'm without
you can't just leave me
breathe into me and make me real

Though really the entire song applies.

This relationship wasn't healthy and it wasn't good. It was based on lies and manipulation. He, who shall remain nameless, would point out every flaw of mine, and make some up (I trusted him beyond words so I didn't question what he told me), then give me vague answers when I asked him what I needed to do to fix them, that was how he kept me for so long.

So if you don't see the resemblence you suck.

I'm sorry that I posted about My Immortal at wrong time. Saida asked about the next song and I didn't remember Cfw saying that the mods decide the next song. I'm not feeling well. I'm stupid. Well, maybe My Immortal will be discussed later.
About Bring Me To Life. I think it's about someone who's unhappy but used to her daily routines and boring life. One day a person close to her makes her see how unhappy she really is. She sees that she can do a lot better in life. She also starts to see this other person different way. She hasn't thought of him any special way before but now they may become friends or lovers. Her life changes. She's still afraid that he goes away and she's back in her old life again.

Bring Me To Life is a really meaningful song. I interpret this as Amy communicating her thoughts about.. maybe someone she is in love with, someone who she wants to save her from the meaningless life she is leading... maybe it is someone who she has not yet found.. but knows is out there for her...

He knows her so well.. he can see into her, past her eyes, down into her non existant soul. She is shocked that someone can see her for who she really is, someone can feel her nothingness.

Without a soul, my spirit sleeping somewhere cold, until you find it there and lead it back home...

Only he can help her. He's the only one who understands her and can bring meaning into her life (lead it back home)

She doesn't want him to walk away from her.. she knows that he can give her life meaning.. he can make her happy again and shes screaming this to him...

Now that he's in her life, she feels attached to him.. she needs him to want her to, she can't live without him.

Chorus - same as before..

Frozen inside, without your touch, without your love darling, only you are the life among the dead.

If he walks away, she'll be nothing. He's the only one who's different from the others and he's the only one who can love her like she wants to be loved.

This is my interpretation.. I guess it all depends on your mood and how you look at it.. and they are all similar.... but to me this song is deeper than jus being fed up with your everyday routine... I think it's a cry for love.... it's a girl frozen in a dark place somewhere, where only one person sees her.. and if he doesn't save her, then she'll be dead.. like everyone around her. To me, this song is about love... the tragedy is that in the video.. it's like a dream... evrything is real... but when she wakes up, the guy who was meant to save her... is not real... she still has to find him.... so close yet so far.... hence he drops her from the window....

A bit of a modern day cinderella without the happy ending...

Thank you. That's my interpretationas well. Only for me it wasn't just an interpretation. It struck a chord that resontated with my life. Exactly what you described. Nothing really bad happening. As a matter of fact everything was going pretty well (still is). Great job, great marriage etc, etc. but just kind of numb inside from the accumulated years of just doing the acceptable thing and not doing anything extraordinary. I love the song for putting into words and music what I was feeling. Wishing that someone or something would call my name and wake me up inside. Save me from the nothing I'd become. Is it a coincidence that Evanescence has been that for me now? I still feel like I'm waking up but Ev has bid my blood to run again and remember what it felt like to be alive. I'm kind of rambling but it's kind of hard to explain. Go listen to it again.
