I decided to come up with an idea for this version of the Evboard tournament...it's a little bit more complicated, but it's a lot more competitive and hopefully a lot more fun.

What I would like to do is have 32 artists being represented.

You know how you listen to a new band or artist and then take the credit for finding them when you want to show them to your friends? This is that kind of a thing but bigger.

I would like 32 Evboard members to represent 32 different artists, but I would like to dictate what artists are in this tournament or not. This is not about having an artist that's had a lot of success on this board and country/world wide already...this is about giving a smaller artist a bigger reputation on this board. If the artist is too big for the board/world, I'm going to PM you and say "pick again".

For those who are interested, I'd like you to pick the artist that you'd like to represent and I will also ask you to link me to their Myspace or Purevolume and then pick the song that you want to use for the first round when it starts. Preferably, you want at least 3 (full-length) songs to represent your artist, but it's perfectly ok to just use 1.

The representative of the band chooses the song that they would like to represent their artist with and if they advance, they can either change the song or keep it.

Now, the listening/voting part is also critical because if you've never heard of the artists in this tournament, you HAVE to listen to an artist to get an idea of who they are. This is not like the last tournament where if you know who they are, you are already partial to them. For that reason, I'll give you all extra time to vote.

The artists have to be small. They can be known, they can even be on a major label but no gold records, no Grammies, and preferably less than three major works (albums, EPs). No artists from the first tournament, which you can look at here.

I want new blood.

The voting will be quite similar to the first tournament and I'll get to that later, but if all of you are interested, I'd like you (whoever you are) to post your artist, their Myspace or Purevolume. Remember, the 32 slots will be first come first serve. I will post the Evboard members and the artists that they represent and in due time, I'll post the tournament brackets for the first round.

This thread is going to be set up for the tournament, so I'm going to temporarily lock it for a day.

Well, it's time to kick off the Evboard Artist Tournament.

Voting rules in this tournament will run similar to the first one. In the first round, you will have 4 votes in each bracket and can distribute them in any way that you would like to, whether that's all for one artist or 1-1-1-1 or 2-1-1 or 2-2 or 3-1 or any other combination. To vote, please PM me.

However, voting itself is going to be a little bit different. You see, for the managers of the artists in this tournament, they will be allowed to vote...but they have to vote outside of their bracket. Logically, if you were going to want to vote, you would of course vote for your band. But that's too easy. To not give anybody that advantage, I decided to get rid of that.

Also for the voters in this tournament, instead of giving people a week to vote, I'm going to give you two weeks. The first round of these first two brackets will end January 31st. For the voters, I would really like you guys to pay attention and listen to these songs that the managers have asked that you listen to. I'd also like you guys to vote based on the strength of the SONG and not particularly the ARTIST. That'd also make things interesting. You can of course listen to other works of the artists but vote on the strength of the song.

I understand that things can change and so songs may wind up becoming unavailable after a while...in that case there's nothing I can particularly do. Only then can you vote on the strength of the artist.

Think of this as a band hunt. You get to have free listens of bands that you may otherwise have not known about. Perhaps you may wind up liking some of the bands on this list of 32. That is the ultimate goal regardless of which band/manager wins.

Finally, I'd like to add that for the managers, I'd like you guys to promote your artists in any way to get people on this board who haven't paid attention to this tournament starting to do so. You can put something in your signature and PM your friends and others to get them to vote for your artist. It's very simple.

The best four artists in each bracket will move on to the second round.

Voting for this next round ends on February 15th. Once again, PM me and those of you who are not in either particular bracket may vote. If you are in the Fallen bracket, you may vote for those in the Haunted bracket but not for yourself and vice versa.

Since I didn't make myself clear, those of you who are voting have four votes in each bracket (provided that you're not a member of either of the two brackets that are being voted for).

Ok, we're finally moving onto the next round...a part of what took me so long was that I had an idea...an idea that seperates this tournament from the first one that I had...what I did in the other one was after there were only 16 teams, I merged it down to 2 groups of 8.

Technically speaking, that's what's going to happen here although, it's going to be quite a bit different.

For the next month of competition, the remaining bands of brackets will actually be teams that are working against each other to move onto the next round.

It'll be every bracket working against each other. The two lowest brackets in terms of votes will get elminated.

So, for the voters, they get to do the same thing that they did in the first round...although, it's going to be a bit tougher to vote who you actually want to make it to the next round. You will use the 4 votes to determine which of the 8 teams you like the best and distribute those four votes anyway you like.

You still have to vote for individual artists because it will determine what will happen in the next round, but the brackets with the most votes will move on.

Those top artists will have advantages going into the next round of play.

Remember voters that between these 8 bands, you'll have 4 votes and can distribute them in any manner. It's not like the last round where it was four votes per bracket. For each of the owners in the brackets, promote the bracket so that you can move on into the next round...because conceivably, even the strongest artist in this round of the tournament does not have to get in, just the strongest bracket overall.

You have until March 7th to vote for this round. Forgot to mention that none of the owners can vote in this next round unless you're in the last two brackets...for the next two, it's vice versa.
