Downloading the song...now. Two out of those four bands already have there own threads in this forum, and the bands themselves RULE. I've been meaning to start one for My Ruin....just waiting till I get a hold of The Horror of Beauty cd. I've already got Prayer Under Pressure of Violent Anguish though. Havent heard Madder Mortem though. As for the other question, Evanescence is probably one of the latest bands I've gotten into as far as "new" music goes, and that was about 1 1/2- 2 years ago....I'd already been listening to LC, Gathering, etc. for quite a while. PS. the song rules!!! ![]() |

Anyway, it was just so amazing, beautiful and passionate. I was just so in awe that I was literally in a trance as they were performing and Anneke sounded unbelievable...just perfect. The whole band are true professionals. It was just a shame the turnout wasn't so hot. It looked to me maybe 75-100 people there. A band like this deserves so much better. At least those that were there were very much into it and supportive. It was a real thrill for me to meet Anneke (for the 2nd time) and Rene after the show. I wish I could've stayed longer to talk to the rest of the band, but my ride was getting impatient. Anneke is truly the sweetest person you could ever hope to meet and simply the voice of an angel. I had brought 8 of my CD covers I hoped to have signed, but I didn't have the nerve to ask her to sign that many, so I just gave her Souvenirs to sign, but she signed all of them. Even better I got a picture taken with Anneke & Rene which I now proudly have framed on my wall. I'm SO thankful they came back to the US after 4 1/2 years. In my humble opinion...quite possibly the best band around nowadays. I just can't wait to see them again. I may have to seriously consider flying to Europe to see a short string of their shows if it will be that long before they return. |

I got a hold of their Almost A Dance CD...holy crap, the difference compared to now is almost mind blowing. The biggest difference is very much Anneke not being the vocalist. Instead their are male vox with female ones interspersed thoroughout. It's not a bad cd it's just a little...jarring.

I posted here before but my knowledge about the band was a bit small.Somehow about 3 weeks ago I got into my hands Madylion and I went crazy.I bought Sleepy buildings and superheat cause the best for me about the band is Anneke singing live.I still can't believe how it is possible to be so talented to have such an amazing voice.I'm shocked each time I listen to her and I simply love that feeling.
I wanted to ask do any of You have some informations about Anneke's privte life...I mean nothing special but for example the date of birth, does she have brothers of sisters...ect.I konw her from the stage image only but I have none infos about Anneke not Anneke the singer. And the last thing I love Evanescence that's why I'm here but right now to be honest with myself I can't place Amy at the top of my favourities singers. She slipped to the second position before Tarja (nightwish) and after Anneke ![]() |

Anyway, I think the band began to really come into it's own with Anneke's arrival on Mandylion. She sings with such an amazing passion and feeling. I truly love all the albums from Mandylion on but at this point in time my favorites are "How To Measure a Planet" and "Souvenirs"....followed by "Sleepy Buildings". Souvenirs and "Black Light District" EP may be a bit harder to find as they were issued on the bands own label Psychonaut records instead of Century Media, but The End records is distributing them both in the US. As far as you being interested in Anneke's private life....not much I can tell you. I do know her birthday was March 8th 1973. Not aware of any brothers or sisters, but she has been married for around a couple years. She appears to wish to keep her private life just that....private. From various interviews/articles I've read on the band, she rarely dicusses that other than in relation to deriving inspiration for a particular lyric. To me it's certainly understandable if she wishes to keep her life outside the band private....and if so that should be respected. I can say from a couple conversations I've had with her she does comes off as a very sincere good soul. Very humble and down to earth....as well as all the other band members I've had the pleasure of talking with. It is clear they are writing/playing the music they truly love and are genuinly appreciative of those that are enjoying their work also. You might like to check a couple good links for more info on the band. www.gathering.nl www.sandandmercury.com Quote:

Thanks a lot drifting-into-oblivion.I need to ask you about something more but now connected with You and the band. You've spoken to Anneke after a concert or You simply met her by a coincidence.I'm asking cause I wish to see her live performence..I think accustic would've been the best for me.I'm from Poland and they were here in 1997 but at that time I was miles away from that sort of music..and I missed it.And two more questions..where are You from??..and have You seen the Dynamo concert???AWESOME!!!

She was a very nice and gracious lady. I saw them twice on the 1999 US tour and this past February in Washington DC. I wish I could see them more....but it is rare for them to tour the states. I think they played around 14 shows here on the 99 tour and just 3 shows in the US this year. They have been playing some songs semi acoustically recently to promote the Sleepy Buildings album. When I saw them last they played for nearly 2 hours, so it was really incredible. If they come even remotely close, please don't hesitate to go.....you won't be disappointed. By the way I'm from the US.....Maryland to be specific. I've never traveled outside the US myself, so I've only seen a video of the Gathering's performance at the 1996 Dynamo concert.....it's on the "In Motion" DVD along with some of the Gathering's show at Katowice Poland in 1997. Unfortunately the DVD does NOT have they full Katowice show...only 6 songs. I have the full show on a bootleg video. (That's the same show that bonus Eleanor video track on Superheat is taken from)....a good quality video recording. |

I've just ordered that "In motion" DVD...the most important reason for that was the Katowice concert.I was quite surprised that they put it on a DVD but it looks realy good at "Superheat" the "Eleanor" song..people were having a great time.Polish people are fun!!There's no way for me to hesitate from going to a concert if only they will come to Poland or enough close to Poland to make it easier for me.I wish to see Anneke live so much...my head is overfilled with this though...I am even ready to go abroad...but close enough.I was on Evanescence concert a year ago in Berlin so I'm ready for sacrifices.
One more question to You...so You had some sort of backstage passes???..or it is realy so simple to go and talk to Them. Thanx for help...and don't bother my English ![]() |
