I've heard it's really good, and I've been meaning to reserve it at the library but I haven't got around to it yet.

I didn't really think it was "scary" at all...

I did think that the story was tragic and a bit depressing at times, yet beautifully written & moving. I'd like to look into some other books by Alice Sebold, if she has any.

she has another book called "Lucky," I know that much. Anyway, I didn't get to finish and the part I thought scariest was the part at the beginning where she was describing how she died and how the guy raped her before he killed her.

I really liked The Lovely Bones, and i think it has been one of my favorite books. It's a really good story, and i loved how it was written from the point of a 14 year old girl. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone- it's just a great story about how life goes on.

Ahh, I understand. I agree, that part was pretty disturbing; it was mostly that the description in that scene seemed so real and vivid to me.

I will have to check out "Lucky." Sebold really has a beautiful way with words in TLB.

Oh that was a FANTASTIC book! I LOVED it!

I agree that it was kind of creepy, but damn it was a good book. I found the very beginning disturbing, too.

I'll have to check out "Lucky". TLB was absolutely fantastic; she just has a way with words.

I read it about a month ago. I didn't find it scary, but it was kinda bittersweet. I think it is really interesting the way the author puts a perspective on a story that basically is just about a family dealing with the death of their daughter.

it's incredibly well-written i think, esp what you said about the very beginning being so vivid. its disturbing.
and there's something beautiful in the grieving of her family....not to mention the interesting perspective point lol
