French writer,was born in paris on june 2,1740.he entered the light horse at 14 and saw considerable military service before returning to paris in 1766.There HIS VICIOUS PRACTICESbecame notorious,and in 1772 he was condemmned to death at aix for an UNNATURAL OFFENSE and for poisoning.Was arrested in Paris(1777),taken to Aix for trial and found guilty.In bastille he began to write plays and obscene novels.In 1789 he was sent to the charenton lunatic asylum,but was discharged in 1790 only to be recommited as incurable in 1803.He died there on dec 2.1814.Among his works:Justine(1793),Juliette(1792)...TODAY HE IS PRESENT :THE WORD SADISM IS DERIVED FROM HIS NAME...and the complete biography is REALLY interesting,please search it!

^Yeah, Kyle, go watch "Quills" with Geoffrey Rush and Kate Winslet and a bunch of other British actors I can't remember right now...it's about the Marquis de Sade and how he managed to keep churning out erotica from the loony bin. I'm not much on British cinema, but that was a REALLLLLY good movie.
