Well, I coudlnt take the tempation anymore so I bought it today even though I'm below requirments. When I first got it home, I kept getting errors trying to install, it woudlnt even pass the first disk. I took it back and exchanged it, the second copy installed perfectly. I must have had a defective disk. But then it kept giving me errors, turns out I had to uninstall CloneCD, I guess its some kind of advanced copy protection. But now that it runs, it actually runs GREAT! I was expecting to have to turn everything off, but it runs perfectly smooth at the defualt settings! The graphics arent as good as they could be at defualt, but at least they arent awful looking with everything turned off, I can even keep the specualr lighting on! I'm so happy now!
I'm even going to try turnin the quality up and see how far I can get lol. I wonder why they said my video card wasnt good enough though, it seems to run great. |

So i've been playing Doom3 non-stop all day and my eyes are about to bleed. It has stolen my soul and I fear for my next kin.
If anyone wants to deathmatch with a few people, PM me.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. *Has been up late playing Doom 3* This game pwns. However, I have decided to stop playing the single player until I get my 5.1 speaks in. I have an overclocked radeon 9700 pro that has been running the game wonderfully set at High in 1024x768. I was having problems at first so I checked my BIOS. As it turns out, my CPU's frontside bus was clocking at 100mhz as opposed to 166mhz (what it's supposed to be). After changing this, the game ran like a dream.
To Luna: the 2.5ghz processor thing maybe true when it comes to Intel, but AMD's run at slower clock speeds. My 2600 athlon xp clocks in at 2.1ghz, but that is the equal of a much higher pentium 4 (not sure of the exact speed on the pentium). |

Heheheh... Twiggy, you should manage fine. I do, with:
Pentium 4 2.8GHz Northwood running at 3.2GHz 1Gb PC3200 RAM ATi Radeon 9800 IceQ running at XT speeds ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -Mike PS: I feel sorry for Luna... 800x600... *winces*

So slower clock speed "should" not matter, b/c AMD is more effecient. They gave it the 2500 name because it's able to keep up with a 2.5ghz P4 in most cases. The whole AMD naming scheme is based on what the chips are able to run up against. 2600+ = 2.6ghz AeroFennec, if you have a DX 8 or DX 7 video card, that might explain why you get such good framerates. The card would be unable to draw out most of the advanced features, letting you get more fps vs extra details. |

I played around with the settings and I'm able to play all the way up to medium at 800 x 600 perfectly smooth with all the advanced options on! Way better then I expected, and it looks great.
One major problem though. The flashlight beam dosnt show up. So I can't light anything up. Trying to play without it, but I keep dying cause I can't see any of the enemys untill there actually hitting me. I have a feeling its cause my graphics card dosnt support whatever feature they use to make the beam, that might be the reason it was considered unsupported ![]() |
