It took me about three times listening through the entire album for me to really latch on to it. I had to mentally settle into the groove that it laid out, y'know?

I'm really curious to see how they pull off some of these tunes live. There are a couple that I don't think will work to well in a live setting. Then again, I never would have thought that "My Immortal" or "Everybody's Fool" would have worked live, either.

I'm looking forward to being proven wrong.

Wow! Back in the days of Evanescecne Radio it is now really obvious who loved Bjork, Tori Amos, and Nine Inch Nails. I can hear a lot of influence from bands Amy likes!

I was in the middle of this post when my modem died, so I just retyped it, though it's not as good as the original.

I don't really believe in genres anyway because music is too complex to shove into categories with other music that may or may not be similar, but as far as genres go, I consider some songs on TOD metal (like All That I'm Living For and Weight of the World), though on a lower (lighter) level than some other artists' songs. For me, it's mostly because of the blaring guitar, bass, and drums, that can start or stop without warning.


And I find the Amy-fan relationship thing really important and interesting, so I'd like to revisit it.

I think that in some ways, it's a breath of fresh air for Amy to have so many fans who understand her, even with all the really dark stuff in her life. I was pretty lost before I found Evanescence and I was thrilled to find someone who I could relate to that wrote such beautiful music. As much as Ev really helped me and made me feel understood, Evboard does just the same thing; I've never felt more understood or accepted. I think it must be the same for Amy, in some ways.

On the other hand, she's kind of alienated because instead of a fan, she's the center of attention. That must get exhausting and kind of invasive. I think that's why she wrote "Weight of the World", which is a "plea for perspective" from her fans, if I'm not mistaken. My opinions about SWQ have been expressed by many other people, so I'll just say I also think it's about people who take the "loving-fan" thing way too far, to the point where it's wrong.

I think, no I KNOW Amy loves her fans, and I truly appreciate the effort she makes to spend time with them. I can't even express how much that means to me. Reflecting on this issue, I tried to imagine being in Amy's shoes as much as it is possible for me to do so. Having fans this loving and devoted and who understand even the darkest parts of you is really something special that anyone would hold very dearly, which is probably why she gives so much back to us. It can also be overwhelming, and sometimes you just need to escape, because no one can deal with that all the time.

Personally, I'm just really grateful.

About the video, i remember reading an article that Evanescence were secretly performing in venues, so it's probably real. I hope she didn't cut her hair, i love her hair!

That vid is such bad quality, it's hard to tell...I thought they were being really secretive about it. Why would a camera have been there? *shrugs* Anyway, guys...if you recall, some fans have seen Amy in the past couple of days and this video is supposedly from a few weeks ago. So don't get scared about her hair. She's allowed to do what she wants with it, but the last time someone saw her, it was long.
