yeah i think it's definitely more mature than fallen. a lot of my friends have heard the album and they don't like it too much because it's different. everyone expects another fallen. that's never going to happen. i respect the people who absolutely hate the album. they have a right to an opinion too
![]() i hope Lacrymosa's the next single... then Lithium... then The Only One ![]()

Well I went to the listening party in Melbourne tonight and omg, I wanted to smack everybody in the room. It was full of people from SonyBMG who were only there for the free booze and would not shut up hence we couldn't hear a thing.
What I could hear of the album though sounded really cool. It has completely put my mind at ease and I cannot wait for the 30th. XDDDD |

You know the only song i have heard from tod is call me.. lacrymosa and a 30 minute demo from lithium but i belive in that band and i like to see their music being each time to a different element not staying in the same music which they know it will bring success . The idea behind Evanescence it was never that and never will be!!

First of all, FUCK this album rocks! As you can already assume, I am not dissapointed by "The Open Door". I read the first two pages of this thread, all the mixed/confused/disappointed comments, and felt like posting my own feelings on the new album, as I am at awe to how confusing such a powerful and profound album can be. (No offence intended)
First and foremost: this is not, and never was meant to be "Fallen" again. I am in the mindset that people (even myself to a small extent) were expecting another album identicle to the musical feats of "Fallen", but like everything in life, things will mature. Evanescence are no longer a high-school/garage band. They have lost vital members that made the band what it was back before "Fallen", and have gained new ones that have brought completely different dynamics to the group. I really do understand how fans will be lost and won with the release of such a different album, but again I stress, this album was meant to be different. A musical symphony that captures the transitions that Evanescence have gone through. Amy Lee is a genious, and although I do not know her personally, I know that she never would have intended to create an album that showed no growth and maturity from "Fallen". How could she ever replace songs like "My Immortal", or "Bring me to Life"? It would have been impossible, even for the composer herself to. We all grew to love Evanescence for the amazingly different sound that they created. The ability to take their listeners away on a journey and feel connected to such a powerful lyric and melody. My point is that Evanescence were like nothing anyone had ever heard before, yet we grew to accept and love their new style. So we owe our trust and support to the band that have always, and always will captivate us. Amy Lee trusted her listeners when she wrote this album, to give it a chance. And I do understand the general confusion, but all I ask is that you take your own feelings and opinions into judging "The Open Door" and really listen to the way Evanescence has ascended to a new level. Trust Amy and the Gang. Trust you own opinions. And give "The Open Door" the credit it deserves, regardless of whether it is a hit or miss in your mind. Evanescence have changed. So has their music. But they are still just as powerfully captivating in this album than in any of their previous ones. One random last thing: Does anyone else think "Your Star" is unbelievably fucking good?? I can't explain it, but it draws from all of their older music, yet infuses a new spin on it. Either way, I think every single song on this album is a masterpiece in its own right, and I want to thank Evanescence for creating such a magnificent follow-up album. Your Devoted Fan Forever, Chris P.S >_> Sorry amy, I had to download it......its been 3 years......a fan has cravings O_o Last edited by Katya : 09-15-2006 at 09:04 AM. |

It never surprises me when a bands sophmore cd comes out, and then the fans divide. Most bands change at least a little bit with each new cd, its part of the growing process.
Anyway, I'm just very confused, because a lot of people are saying the album sounds so much different than Fallen, and it does sound different, but not so much it's not good. Amy is still an amazing song writer/lyricist. So, are people upset that Bens influence is no longer part of the music? Because beyond that, the music still sounds just like Evanescence to me.
