when I first listened I thought it was very blah
there's just a few songs I REALLY like now that I listedn more I like it more, but I would also say that is isn't THAT different from Fallen but what upsets me most is that Amy more and more seems like she doesn't like her fans... I mean I see how some fans are a little insane and scary but she even says in interviews how she doesn't like them... other singers and bands write songs for their fans thanking them... idk, i hope no one becomes upset that I said that, but that's really how I've felt for a while, I wish she'd appreciate her fans more!!!!!!!!!!!! ok well don't get mad at me... this is just my opinion too
but in the t-minus rock interview when she talks about "Snow White Queen" and I noticed she is very reserved from her fans... I was reading in the Evanescence Rendevous section and someone said that when they saw the band, John and Terry (I think it was) came over to say hello and Amy just waved and walked away. and I never heard that at the VMAs! but it's reasurring I definitly heard her say good things towards fans, that she hopes the music helps them. |

Snow White Queen is written about obsessive and stalkerish fans. Not the fans in general. I guess it's a factor of being out of the loop that you got confused.
There are fans who are way over the line when it comes to their devotion to Amy, some even on this board. Sometimes there are valid reasons why she will not approach a crowd in a certain city where there's a known problem. I wasn't mad. I just wanted some clarification. Carry on. |

"I Anais will promise to respect other people's opinions and not bash them or get overly crazy. I promise not to be a fangirl/fanboy or a total hater and post my opinions in and MATURE manner."
I finally got a change to listen to the new recording. It's difficult getting used to new music..but... I find that the songs are very well written. Some beautifully written. Amy's voice has grown richer, fuller and has, I think, improved. I hear different levels of her voice in this lastest recording. A more daring approach. The guitars and classic music along with opera are exquisite. Lacrymosa would be one if not my favorite song. There are some songs that remind me of some on Origin with the odd but fascinating intros. A couple of songs have the same muted beginnings like Tourniquet and Going Under. There is a small gripe I have in one of the songs (and it's not Snow White Queen), but I'm not going to go into it. Overall, I am quite impressed with The Open Door. The more I listen to it, the more I will love it. It's a great project. Last edited by Anais Anais : 09-11-2006 at 02:03 PM. |

I feel that Amy does appreciate her fans - very much. Now, I obviously don't know her or anything, but I don't think she takes those few extra minutes she rarely has to come on here and post / update just to pass time or whatever. I'm sure she could be doing something else in those few minutes, but she still makes sure to stop in every once in a while. Plus, that little mention of EvBoard - a thank you - on ABH said a lot too. Not many bands try to reach their fanbase. Many don't care. How many bands actually post on a board dedicated to them? The time that Amy takes to post on here shows a lot to me - she DOES care. Because without us (and all the other fans that are not on EvBoard), there would be no Ev. But, yes, as Dhamma has said, where has Amy said that she doesn't like her fans? If you're referring to the song 'Snow White Queen' ... well, there have been many interpretations of the song. It could be about the really crazy obsessive fans, but Amy has said it's about problems that she had / is having with stalkers. Well, I guess I just said the same thing in two different ways, didn't I? Anyhow, I don't think anyone of that nature is here on EvBoard - at least I hope not - so there's no need to worry. But, really, Amy does appreciate her fans. I'm sure the "OMG, you saved my life!" or "I love you soooooo much!" is tiring and sometimes freaky, but we know she loves us all (for the most part). <3 |

I don't mean to suggest that I think Amy doesn't care about her fans nor do I pretend to know the first thing about being a celebrity or in particular a female celebrity, but I've got to believe the fan thing is kind of a love/hate relationship.
Personally, I read "Snow White Queen" as speaking about an aspect of the relationship that Amy has with all her fans. Lines like "hide from you / all of you" give this track a palpable feeling that everyone is watching her, everyone wants something from her and she finds that to be more than a little sinister. And, you know, I don't think you can overlook the fact that here on EvBoard, "Snow White" is our queen. |
