Really? I know most people here prefer Fallen, but honestly, I prefer TOD. Perhaps it's because I listened to Fallen so often I got sick of it, I just don't listen to it anymore - the songs from that album were played on radio every 30 minutes or so, so that killed it for me. TOD songs were not played that much so I listen to that one more. I just prefer the songs, to me they are more catchy and meaningful

I don't listen to TOD much eithor but if I ever want to listen to Ev, that's always my first choice - that one, and Origin.
![]() EDIT: I can't quite remember what Diehardandsuckit said to make his post be deleted???

TOD wasn't their best CD in my mind. The begining of it was slow, as the middle picked up, and the end had you begging for more. To me TOD left a lot out and was sort of a filler after "Anywhere but Home". Sad to say that I rarely listen to TOD anymore or their other CD's. Am I growing up?
Now then when I first heard the CD I didn't want to believe the reviews saying "There was a lot missing to it". I was blocking it out of my mind telling myself TOD was great. But as I listened to it more I kept on getting the feeling after track 10 that they wanted to add so much more. Track 13 feels out of place in my mind. I have to say it's been about 7 months since I listened to TOD from start to end. I'm kind of sad about it and wish that TOD was better.

Nahh I hate the open door; her voice is louder and sometimes it's too loud for the music. I'm also not so keen on certain songs, like "like you", "your star" and "good enough" I just don't like her voice on these songs, although the music on "your star" is very good ![]() |

"I *Amy Lee Jr.* will promise to respect other people's opinions and not bash them or get overly crazy. I promise not to be a fangirl/fanboy or a total hater and post my opinions in and MATURE manner."
honestly when i first heard the open door i was slightly dissapointed. i was madly in love with fallen and was expecting it to be along those lines. but soon enough i forced meself to listen to it until i fell in love with it too and had all the lyrics memorized. it was evanescence and i am a "crazy fan" by anyone's standards, so i made myself like it. and it worked. but i still prefer fallen, it was just... better?!?!

I'm going to be the absolute critic here and just blurt out my feelings on their music and how it could be better.
Let me get this out of the way first. Amy is a great talent. Not only does she have a great voice, but she also knows how to sing (great control). In some ways I also think she is a musical genius in terms of melodies and as a writer of lyrics. That said... I often wonder why she appeals to an audience that is mostly much younger than herself and why I feel there is always something missing when she sings. So here's the deal. I think the feeling of something missing comes from her putting up an emotional block when she performs. It seems like when she is first creating the music and writing her lyrics the block isn't present... it is a true emotional release which is why her music is so powerful in the first place. However when she records it or performs on stage... I get the feeling like she is singing someone else’s song. As if she emotionally detaches herself from her own art and puts on an "act" to perform it. Maybe it's just me but I always feel like she sings VERY well and always has a lot of energy, but her performance is also devoid of emotion.. or the emotion she tries to express is being faked. Maybe some other people can chime in if they have felt what I am talking about... Also the problems that she writes about, and how she deals with them are pretty much the same as when she first started creating music... and a lot of time has passed since then. She has a tendency to be hurt easily, which is fine and is something that everyone can relate to, but she often reacts to being hurt by holding anger, and writing about how terrible it is instead of how she overcame it or became a better person through it. This is something that most people find as they get older... it's what matures people. You can sing a song about how your boyfriend was a drunk and how much of an ass hole he is and appeal to young people who are dealing with it for the first time. Or you can write about how drinking affects you, what you learned from being in a relationship like that, and hopefully became the better person and forgave the drunk... that would appeal to an older audience. But a true artist can only write what they feel, and she if hasn't reached that point in her growth, then she will continue to appeal to people who are like her.. which are apparently those that are younger than herself. Just my two cents... |

I listen to Ev maybe, every few days or so. It all depends, what kind of mood I am in. I have gotten into, all this other music that has been born, and I love everything that has come out from all these different artists. Even when I go on you tube, I hardly listen to Ev, but that doesn't mean I love their music any less, I will always love them, its just that now I have a variety. But Ev, will always have a very special place in my heart, for very many certin reasons!! ![]()

Haha, TOD... wow. This thread got me thinking about it... I listened to it twice all the way through as soon as I got it. Then, I left it in my car to play on may way to school and work... got through it MAYBE another two or three times. But it wasn't in my car through the end of October, because I couldn't stand listening to it, lol. I haven't listened to TOD since, but I have listened to Ev's old stuff... everything pre-TOD just doesn't seem to wear off for me; I still really enjoy it (granted I don't play it every day or anything either). I just surprised myself realizing that my TOD CD has literally been sitting in my room ever since I took it out of my car.
For me, it was okay, but nothing special at all... very boring, very forgetful, very unoriginal. I just didn't care for the sound at all. I was also quite upset at the sound of the songs and how much of an emphasis there was on Amy's singing. It just wasn't for me. ::Shrugs::

amy's been through a lot and has been hurt many times. that's why she's in this "rut" or whatever, that appeals a lot to younger audiences. though i must say amy's music appeals to people of ALL ages. there are more younger people possibly, also because, she is a younger artist and young guys tend to find her very attractive. and amy does write from her heart, what's there is there. and you know what? i think amy does a fantastic job!!! she's one of the most real artists i've ever listened too. keep rockin' amy cause i think you're doing amazing. though, i do get what you are saying TLR3715. and over the last couple years amy's become one of the most mature music artists out there too. there is NO one better than amy lee!!!!
