The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Has anyone else read this book by Steven Chbosky?? I thought it was amazing.

I love the way this kid thinks. He reminds me of myself sometimes. i think this is a book a lot of teens can relate to. Its sad in a good way. If you haven't read this book I highly recommend it.

yeah i read the book, i thought it was good--but although it portrays things in real life like alcohol sex drugs etc, it doesnt portray them realistically. Also no, i didnt think the kid's personality was appealing at all, its like he has no opinion of anything whatsoever, he's jsut there...

I just read it a few days ago. Everytime I tried to take it out at my town library it's always out. So, I was really happy when I randomly saw it in my school library. Anyway, I really love this book. I think it had a lot of good quotes, too. Like;
"We accept the love we think we deserve."

I'm one of those people (maybe one of the only people) who, as I'm reading a book, writes down or highlights parts of the book that really stick out. This book had a ton. One of my favorites:

Anyway, Patrick started driving really fast, and just before we got to the tunnel, Sam stood up, and the wind turned her dress into ocean waves. When we hit the tunnel, all the sound got scooped up into a vacuum, and it was replaced by a song on the tape player. A beautiful song called "Landslide." When we got out of the tunnel, Sam screamed this really fun scream, and there it was. Downtown. Lights on buildings and everything that makes you wonder. Sam sat down and started laughing. Patrick started laughing. I started laughing. And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.

It's been a while since I've read this book. Years. Maybe I'll have to read it again.

I do the same thing! Except if it's not my book, then I use post-it notes. And then later write them in a notebook.

You do know this is real right. These were actual letters written by an actual kid of his actual life. So to it isn't realistic is kind of weird since it actually happened to someone. I think he is the perfect example of a shy insecure guy. which probably doesn't seem real to most people because most guys just aren't like that. He's sweet and smart and amazingly brave. This book is by far one of the best things I've ever read, and I would honestly love to meet whoever wrote those letters.
