Thanks for all your comments, everyone. I'm going to make this brief because I have a busy day, plus I'm starting to feel under-the-weather.
Here's a relatively new piece. Please let me know what you think, as always.Resurrecting A Ghost A casual mention Of a ancient name Instantly He floods the room Reviving memories No longer suppressed by pain or time Rosewood and musk Permeate the surrounding air Impressions of his fingers Massage her shoulders A breeze from an open window Perfumed as his breath Murmurs of once-uttered words Caress her ears like lullabies Brushing her cheek A strand of her hair Or was it another final kiss As weightless, as real as the last one? All too quickly He vanishes Leaving her pale, panic-stricken As if she had seen a ghost But her eyes never dared To glance behind Instead His face materialized in her mind Alive in flesh, blood, and bone An audible plea A hand reaching out She pulled away Returning to her tangible certainty But plunging into feelings That enveloped her yesterday Falling deeper Faster Harder Again © S.E.L. 7/21/2006 |

I don't know how your poems hit me so much violette. There so full of power and emotion. I tend to get such a vivid image in my head from your work. Resurrecting a ghost is a beautiful piece. It makes me want to do some sort of artwork based on it.
"A breeze from an open window Perfumed as his breath" My favourite line of all. I love the methods you use to create such imagery ![]() Sorry about not commenting here all the time. I do lurk, honest, I just feel bad for not posting in everyones who's work I like threads. There's so many that I don't get the time to talk in them all! |

A difficult decision, but I had to...
Thank you all for your beautiful comments. I feel a little undeserving of them sometimes, but I always appreciate what you have to say about my work.
I came to a difficult decision yesterday... Things have really started to get crazy with my offline life. Between schoolwork, being the editor of my college newspaper, work, writing, and trying to maintain a social life... I haven't been here at EvBoard very much lately. And I doubt that things will slow down anytime soon. I haven't had much of a chance to look at people's work over here, not to mention update my own thread as much as I'd like to. So... I think I will take a brief leave from EvBoard. I really don't want to, because I've met some awesome people here and become a better writer because of your encouragement and suggestions. But something's gotta give at some point. I may lurk every now and then, but I won't have much time to post. If anyone wants to correspond with me, just send me a PM and I'll let you know how you can reach me. And if you want to stay up-to-date with my work, I'll be posting more of my stuff over at Writer's Retreat (the writer's messageboard that GirlWithAMic and I created last month) as well as the Starlite Cafe website. You can get to WR just by clicking the link in my signature. And here's where you can look at what I've posted so far over at the Starlite Cafe: http://www.thestarlitecafe.com/perl-...?name=Violette I'm sure you guys understand what I have to do. I'll miss you, and hope to hear from you or see you around in the future. ![]() ~Sara (a.k.a. Violette) |

Wow... it's been a while. I hope some of you guys will remember me!
I'll try to come to EvBoard every now and then to catch up on some of the literary threads... I've graduated from college now and am now working in the "adult world," so to speak. But I've still been writing! So I hope that anyone here who had been reading my poems before will continue to come and give their comments and feedback. I've missed you guys, and as I said I hope to come around when I have a chance. ![]() Here's something for you to read, btw. Puzzle Forgive me as I study every movement and analyze every sentence. After weeks and months, your name still melts like honey on my tongue, and your mystery remains unsolved. There’s so much to consider, from the subtle tilt in your grasp on a coffee mug, to the mischievous stars sparkling in your eyes at night. All I know, all I understand is that neither of us cast this spell, and neither of us are complete on our own. So, please, let me find all your pieces – all your strengths and weaknesses, all your aspirations and idiosyncrasies. Because all I long to do now is learn who you are – and who I may be. © S.E.L. 2/23/2007 |

It's been awhile. And I do hope you come around more often to share with us, because I didn't realize how much I actually missed your writings until reading this latest one.
It's simply beautiful. I love how you describe the feelings of wanting to know and accept someone for all of them, from their very flaws to their greatnesses. The ending really puts it all together - like the last piece in a puzzle, as the title states - as eloquent as finding yourself in someone else can be. |
