Thanks again, Svetlana and Nothing.
I know I just posted something yesterday, but I'm just itching to post another poem or something, since I'll be away from the computer for a couple days. Comments, suggestions, and criticisms are welcome as always. I'll do another 'potential song,' just to space out the poems. Barely Alive I’ve shouted words of wisdom now lost I knew you couldn’t pay the price You ignored the cost Now you curse me You claim I left you in the dust Your voice, your god Now I’m your foe Chorus But I’ve kneeled in the dark Watched with one eye You don’t feel me here You must be barely alive I’ve repeated our names You must have disowned yours I found simple satisfaction You kept begging for more Now you cry for my warmth For that forgiving light Now here, not now Not from my heart Chorus I tried to protect you All these years Now my power is slipping away You’ve grown numb to your faith I struggle to breathe Learning we both can’t be saved Chorus © SEL Feb. 2005 |

Wow, V, (can I call you V?
) those are some kick ass songs there. I love them both, especially the choruses, I could kinda connect. (especially with abscence) I think they've got some real potential. If any of your friends have a band, you should ask them to play it, they'd work very well in my opinion. I hope to see more soon, keep up the good work. \m/ ![]()

A-ha, I found time to log on today! I started an internship today and was there from 9 am till 5pm, so I've been gone most of the day. Thanks, Uriel (or is there another name you go by, or would you mind me calling you that?). Unfortunately, I don't know any musicians, singers, or band members. *sighs* I've searched for years, trust me, and I kept finding dead ends. Maybe one day when I least expect it, the right person who can help me will come along. Just don't ask me to sing. I suck. No, honestly. I do. *lol* And btw, I forgot to tell you earlier.... yes, my name is Sara, so I don't mind going by that at all. The nickname 'V' just seems really strange to me. How did you know my name, btw? I don't remember posting it in this thread.... Just curious, that's all. |

Hey Sara.
To answer your first question... Uriel's not my real name, that'd be Yukio. (not much better in terms of strangeness, especially since I'm a Colombian and it's Japanese ) You can call me whatever you like, I really don't mind. I'm sure you don't suck at singing, you should record a song and put it up here sometime. As for musicians... don't give up just yet, someone will come along sooner or later. If you want, I can check with a friend of mine who's in a band... though I can't remember if they have a female singer (they had a line-up change). The nickname "V" just came out of the first letter of your screen name. Thought it sounded kinda catchy, but I guess I'll stick to Sara, I like it better. And, I knew your name cause I saw your work and decided to do a search of all your posts and stumbled upon your "Kinda sorta new" thread, and read it off there. And no, I'm not a stalker. I just wanted to see where you had posted. Hope that internship of yours goes well. And thanks for the comment on my thread!![]() ![]()

@ Uriel/Yukio: Thanks for your encouragement. If I could, I'd try recording some stuff on the computer and have you guys listen to it. But I don't think I have the appropriate equipment. Not to mention I'd probably sound a little off. *lol*
@ MisunderstooD: Thanks for checking out my thread! Glad you liked what you read. I'll try to post another poem/song in the next couple days. See you all later. |

Here's a poem I wrote this summer. The one that jump-started my burst of creativity again. Let me know what you guys think.
~Sara~ Misadventure She sits on her four-poster bed Bouncing up and down restlessly Her mind darting, off and running She’s no ordinary six-year-old Strapping on her sandals Cocking her wide-brimmed hat to the side She leaps off the faded rose comforter And grabs her flashlight A scratched-up compass And her map The one she drew herself That leads her to places only she knows of The door slides open…. BANG! Let the outside world know she’s arrived One step out of that lackluster sameness Into the untamed wilderness Swinging on thick tree vines Crawling through branches with spider monkeys Free-falling in slow motion While butterflies hover around her Kissing the air with their delicate wings Her voice roars with the lions And chirps with the parrots No giraffe is too tall No ant is too tiny Every animal lives in harmony Every animal is her friend And oh, how she longs to stay here forever Abandon all the boredom The sanity, the normalcy Known as the real world For the rich, vibrant beauty The thrilling, boundless fun Of this unnatural rainforest Her natural escape If only she could… “What on Earth are you doing, love?” What a shame One commanding, motherly sentence Turns a little girl’s extraordinary playground Into a rumpled heap of clothes and toys in a walk-in closet © S.E.L. Oh... my.. God, Sara... that poem just left me speechless. I think it's one of your best so far. I loved the ending, and the second and third stanzas. Second one connected with me a lot, not sure why though... think it was the map. I hope to see more of your stuff soon, it's very enjoyable to read. Keep up the amazing work!![]()
