You guys keep coming back. *lol*
Thanks again. I've never had anyone give me the compliments that anyone on this thread has given for my poetry and songs. It really means a lot to me. *blushes* |

Representing Karmina in the EvBoard Tournament!
Hi everyone
I'm not posting a poem right now, but instead I'd like to point out that a brand new EvBoard Tournament has started today! This time around, the Tournament is highlighting artists that currently aren't very well-known in the music world but certainly have a lot of potential. Any EvBoard members who wanted to participate can represent one of these up-and-coming bands. I decided to represent Karmina, a sister duo based out of San Francisco. Kelly is 21, and Kamille is 19. They've been playing together for several years and have independently released their first album, Voyage of a Thousand Dreams. They write their own songs, which is always a plus. I'd describe their style as 'soulful pop/rock'... The girls both have beautiful voices, and they were influenced by artists like Savage Garden, John Mayer, Seal, Dashboard Confessional, Vertical Horizon, and Sheryl Crow (among others). Interested? Here are some websites that feature Karmina and their music: Karmina's Official Website Karmina's Music (make sure you listen to their song, Favorite Fantasy... it's the song I listed for the Tournament!) Karmina's Myspace Page Karmina's First Website If you'd like to vote for Karmina in the EvBoard Tournament (and I thank you so much ahead of time, if you do ), here's the thread for the EvBoard Tournament: http://www.evboard.com/showthread.php?t=29036. If you choose not to, that's fine. I'm not trying to force anyone here to vote for my nomination... but if you do, that's awesome. See you around! |

Thanks, Yukio. No rush with listening to Karmina's music. I think the first round of the Tournament runs until January 31st, so you have some time.
I'll definitely try to post another poem in the next few days. I'm in the middle of two poems, despite being back at school. My creative juices are still flowing like crazy. I'd post something now.... but I'm at work, and I really shouldn't even be here at EvBoard right now. *tsk tsk on me* See you around! |

Your writing is very descriptive. I especially love the Hummingbird and Untitled. In particular, I loved the imagery you used in Untitled
She tips his chin up with her fragile hand And his warm brown eyes Met her frosty sapphire blues Her midnight black hair Her ghostly pale skin Keep writing! I love them so far.

Wow, Sara, I love your work. My particular favourite is Writer's Block, mostly because I can totally relate to it. The songs were awesome and I really think you should find someone who can put them to music and perform them. I can relate to the frustration of being a song writer who can't play an instrument and can't sing - I feel that too sometimes.
Keep writing ![]() Vicky

Thanks for your comments, Vicky and Marcassa. Always nice to see new people visiting this thread.
My brain is just bursting with creativity right now, even though I'm back at college and don't have as much time for writing. I'll definitely post some of the newer poems at some point. In the meantime, here's something I wrote last semester. Let me know what you guys think! ~Sara~ Seaside Meditation An orange hole brands the sky, Dyeing the sea it swims in, Periwinkle, lavender, crimson, then black. Angry waves once battered the shore, Now, as light fades into dark, They are calm, hoping to be my friends. The rushing of water soothes me. Lying on the beach, waiting, Breathless and still, a human starfish. Chills reverberate through my skin, As the bubbly sea foam crawls over my feet, Then slowly retreats to its home. My eyes drift to the sky above. Tiny diamonds sparkle in the deep night, Jeweled dots that last until dawn. I sink into the sand beneath me, Letting the earth embrace me. Not swallowed, but gently touched As I rest, the faint smell of sea salt, Floats through the sultry air, In and out, just like the tides. Closing my eyes, I became absorbed by The ocean breeze, the cloudless sky, The tranquil beach, and my blissful state…. As I dipped into a deep and peaceful sleep. © S.E.L. October 2005 |

Wow Sara, that was an amazing poem. Truly breathtaking. If I close my eyes after reading it and think back on it, I can almost feel the water around my ankles. VERY descriptive, and nice choice of words. It gives a sense of tranquility, of peace. I loved it. Good luck at college, work hard. Take your time to post something new, college goes first. \m/ on girl.

Reminder: First round of new EvBoard Tournament ends Jan. 31st!
Just popping my head in briefly... Wanted to remind anyone who's interested that the first round of the new EvBoard Tournament ends this coming Tuesday, Jan. 31st. I'm representing the band Karmina, so you still have some time to check out their music and vote for them if you'd like. There are two links in my signature... One is for a Karmina thread I started, with links to their songs and websites. The other is the EvBoard Tournament link, which gives instructions on the tournament and the voting process. Karmina is in the 1st bracket, so be sure to vote for them if you haven't yet!
Back to the poetry and shtuff... I may have some time this week to post something else. Much thanks to everyone who's come by. |
