As our group travelled through the swamp, many of the students became restless when, on occasion, the boat would be rocked by bumping into the trees, rocks, and other remains of what had been there before the area was flooded. They were relieved when the captain told us we had reached the deep, unaware of the true dangers we now could face. Now thinking that the ride would be more steady, they were shocked when a large "THUMP" stirred the peaceful night.
I woke to screams from my fellow students. I rushed out of the sleeping quarters up to the deck. I looked across the dark to the fog-dimmed lights of the other boat, which contained the male half of our class. The boats were small, so we'd been divided. I noticed a student with a flashlight, staring in horror at the murky waters.
THUMP.
I stumbled and backed away from the rail, afraid that I could be knocked in to the water. I heard a strange noise, almost a hissing sound.. yet it did not seem natural. I slowly crawled to the rail, holding on tightly. I looked across, the student with the flashlight had a group around him, some looking frightened, others looking entranced at what the beam revealed.
I peered over the edge of the boat. The light was shining right below where I stood... and then I saw the creature.



This was a creature that was in a dream I had. In the dream, there were hundreds of them coming out of a deep area of a swamp... I decided to draw it.

actually, the dream wasnt scary
we were in a jungle jeep passing by the swamp where there were hundreds of less-scary but very similar looking versions of these swimming around in it.
then i wrassled a giant anaconda
