I am glad there is a thread on this movie! I have loved this movie since the age of 4. Every year we would tape it off of television because I would wae out the tape I watched it so much. I still love it to this day and know it pretty much word for word. My favortie part is where Dorothy slaps the lion on the nose and he starts to cry cause if you look really closely during this scene you can see Judy Garland smirk a bit like she is going to break out laughing. I have watched the movie with the dark side of the moon playing and that is pretty creepy try it some time if you haven't already. Dorothy is my favorite character mostly because I love Judy Garland and all of her work she was an amazing actress.

Yay! The Wizard of Oz! Actually, it's my school play this year, and I am playing the witch! I love getting death scenes! But it would have been fun to play Dorothy... there is something about the field of poppies that will be made out of paper that sort of attracts me... sorry
I've been obsessed with this movie for a long time. Actually, a long time ago, my aunt and I rewrote the entire story using foods! Like, the wizard was... I think he was broccoli because he is green... and they were saying, "Are you a good witch, a bad witch, or a sandwich?" lol I love the Wizard of Oz... |

i never liked the wizard of oz much, but i remember liking return to oz as a child.
i was a fairuza balk fan from the start. at 3 years old i was like, "yeah, i'd hit that."

I think this is a really good movie in the classical sense and for its time, and its fun to watch, but it isn't the most realistic movie as far as special effects go. Yet I still think there is a good reason for it being a classic. It does rock in its own way.

I really loved the movie when I was younger.
It was one of my favourite movies, just like Mary Poppins was.

Yeah, I love this movie, it came on a couple of days ago. My favourite characters would have to probably be the humbug wizard and definitely dorothy, I think it's Judy Garland? is quite good in this movie, and she sings really well. I used to love this movie when I was a kid, and I remember the witch scared the shit out of me, especially the bit in the tornado when she cackles while she's flying round on the broomstick. I also remember my favourite bit: the part where Dorothy steps out of the house and the film 'magically' changes from black and white to colour as she steps into Munchkinland. Hehe, the Munchkins were so cute!^^ I liked the ballerina bit, I wonder how they got their voices so high? o_O
Does anyone know what year it was made in? |
